How To Stay Hydrated

Whether you’re dehydrated because you drink too little throughout the day, because you’ve been partying a little too hard or due to issues with the climate, it’s never a good position to be in.

When you’re dehydrated, you’re more likely to feel fatigued, sluggish, and brain foggy, and you may even have a headache too. Your skin is also likely to be less elastic, so you won’t be looking your best when dehydration sets in.

The good news is, there are a number of very effective things you can do to stay hydrated, and below we’ll take a look at them.

Drink before you get thirsty

The thing about dehydration is that it sets in before you ever really become aware of it. So, if you want to maintain a decent level of hydration, you need to drink before you feel thirsty. The easiest way to do this is by filling a reusable bottle with water and sipping it throughout the day. That way, your hydration levels never get the chance to drop too low.

Eat water-rich foods

There are a number of foods, mainly fruits, and vegetables, which contain a lot of water, along with plenty of healthy vitamins and minerals; things like pineapples. Kiwi fruits, watermelons, peaches, cucumbers, and tomatoes. If you eat a diet packed with these water-rich foods, then you’re far less likely to become dehydrated throughout the day.

Try an IV drip

IV drip hydration is a new option that’s currently available to anyone who’s feeling fatigued and low due to a lack of hydration. Basically, you can have an IV inserted into your body that will rapidly rehydrate you by injecting a mixture of fluids and vitamins into your body. Once the procedure is done, you’ll feel 100 percent more energized than you were before.

Stay indoors

If you live in an area where it gets really hot, and you want to stay hydrated, do your best to stay indoors when the sun is at its hottest – usually between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. Turn on the air conditioning and take it easy.

Dress to avoid dehydration

When it’s hot out and you do need to go out, you’re also going to want to make sure that you dress to avoid dehydration. You can do that by wearing clothing that is loose-fitting, and which is ideally made from natural, breathable fabrics. You should also put on a hat with a wide-brim to stop your head from getting hot, and do everything you can to avoid sunburn, which will raise your temperature and make dehydration more likely.

Limit alcohol

If you’re having a fun night out, instead of drinking wall-to-wall alcohol. Try alternating your drinks so that you have one glass of water for every glass of alcohol. Why? Because alcohol is shown to have a dehydrating effect on the body, which is one of the reasons why hangovers feel so awful.

As you can see, staying hydrated is pretty simple, whether you drink more water, go for an IV hydration treatment or stay mindful of the weather, there are numerous things you can do to avoid dehydration!
