The Republican Closet

Andrew has a very perceptive reader.
Part of Sarah Palin’s irresistible appeal to her fundamentalist base is her ability to look at the camera with utter conviction and declare black to be white….
Fundamentalists can recognize a truly audacious and talented liar from miles away. Instead of running the other way, as you might expect, they gather around the powerful liar, for they know that their own lies will be respected and protected by a leader who understands the paramount importance of preserving their whole system of denial.
I came to the conclusion sometime last fall that Republicanism as it exists today, especially in the core rump of fiction that is Palinism, is based entirely on myth, falsity and lies. Not one single thing in the Republican dogma is true. Not one. It is why they watch Fox News, listen to Rush Limbaugh, go to tea parties – the total submersion in falsehood cannot withstand a single iota of truth inserted amongst it, because once that happens, it all comes crashing down pretty fast.
It’s sort of like living in a closet. Existing by your own choice in a world so defined by lies, and defending those lies with the desperation of a madman, eventually, with certainty, extracts a terrible price. Republicans are beginning to pay it, and will do so in full I suspect sooner, rather than later.

That closet is pretty full with approximately 50% of the voters. Some closets are fuller than others.

In 2012 we must vote for Governor Mitt Romney to become our President and Governor Sarah Palin to become our Vice President starting on January 20, 2013 , First Governor Mitt Romney is economically smarter than Barak Obama. Secondly Governors Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are of the superior rightwing conservative philosophy that they are pro God and Christianity, pro life, pro marriage; pro guns-second amendment, pro low taxes, pro low government spending; pro small government, pro unintrusive government, pro traditional and Judeo Christian values; pro Bible reading and prayer in our public schools, pro Christians schools and private education , pro private and free enterprise; pro military spending, anti arms agreements with Russia, pro creation; pro nuclear, pro conservative supreme court judges, pro American sovereignty; pro capitalism, anti communist, anti socialist; conservative on immigration, and pro constitution
