Wingnut offers me $$$ [UPDATE $75-100] to take down video of her being a wingnut

Fri, Apr 17, 2009

Media, Politics

WELCOME ALL!  Let’s see if we can’t outbid this lady and help keep me putting wingnuts on tape!

Part 2 of the McCain Palin Mob video, which as of this post has over 396,000 views, months after being posted, is still causing boatloads of commenting fun, including this, comment #8,130.

I have asked you three times to take this fukkin video down. Now it is plastered all over that libnut webiste Huffington Post. TAKE THIS FUKKIN VIDEO DOWN NOW. P.S. I hope you know that you can get sued, and thrown in jail for using this video without our permission.

Here’s the HuffPo link with the video of said wingnut embedded.  Of course, the threat is anonymous, I have no idea which lunatic in the video this person is, but here’s my email in response.

You were on public property speaking voluntarily.  Thus, this video is my property, as is all of the content in the video.  Suck on it.

I copied them this video in my email.  And then the fun starts.

How much money would you think it would cost for you to take the video down? It is not like we are willing to pay it. But i am just curious?

My response -

i don’t even know who you are.

Wingnut -

Well, put it like this. My sister is one of the women in the video that you tricked into commenting, and i am standing just out of camera range. After your video went viral, we asked you to take it down. But instead, you ran and put the remarks on your libnut blog. So it was decided it was just best to ignored you. Now, we see that once again the video has been put out for worldwide consumption. After all the election is over. So here we are again. And once again, we are asking you very nicely to take the FUKKIN VIDEO DOWN.

P.S.

Hope you know we can get you kicked off of youtube permanently, for terms of services violation. Do you really want that?

Me -

You aren’t the first person to threaten me with lawsuits, nor threaten me with taking me off Youtube, not a single one of which has worked. So go ahead and waste your time.

And they were asking so nicely!  How could I refuse?  UPDATE – Cash!

Ok, then how much money would it take for you to take the video down? $75.00-$100.00? Times are tight, and that would be a nice tidy profit for you just for a few hours of work, if you ask me. I can type up a contract, and have the money and contract wired to you by Monday morning. That way everybody can be happy. We can have peace of mind, and you can have some extra walking around cash.

Nice tidy profit, eh?  Whaddya say, should I accept?  Or would you rather donate to keep me putting wingnuts on tape?

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

I have to admit, I don’t understand you. You take such pleasure in others’ misfortunes and weaknesses, but you expect people to forget your failings. The truth is, there are misinformed and ignorant people on both political sides–but the difference is, apparantly, that these folks aren’t doing political blogging.

  2. Eric Says:

“we are asking you very nicely to take the FUKKIN VIDEO DOWN”

    Classic stuff, right there!

  3. Eric Says:

    Jim somewhere in Cleveland,

I don’t think anyone takes pleasure in misfortune, though both political sides do appear to wallow in schadenfreude from time to time. This particular episode was one in which Tim exposed the true nature of Palin rallies. They were billed by the right as this populist uprising of Americana when in fact they were a steaming cesspool of intolerance and hate.

I would venture to guess that Tim would be just as happy if these people and their ideas didn’t exist. I’m sure he’d trade that for a few million YouTube views. But they do exist and Tim has made a habit now of exposing them.

This is a far cry from forgiving someone who has paid for their wrongs and asked for forgiveness. You did see the treatment of the one kid in the video who decided to wise up and admit he didn’t want to be associated with these lunatics, right?

  4. Eric Says:

I say we match her dollar for dollar at each successive sweetening of the pot in order to never have the video taken down. I’m in for $100.

Here’s the tricky part. The video is so popular that other YouTubes users have also published it. I wonder if she realizes how expensive this could get for her. Typical wingnut view of things though. “How much is it going to cost me to make this here thing…you know…go away”

    ROFL

  5. Jim in Cleveland Says:

    Eric,

I don’t believe this was the true nature of the “Palin” rallies, nor do I believe they were a cesspool of intolerance and hate. I was at one of these rallies for several hours, and saw none of what was shown in the videos. In fact, I heard political discussion and responsible criticism of then-Senator Obama–NONE of it remotely racist. I am certainly not saying what is shown isn’t real–I am just saying it isn’t especially representative.

And more important, I think it unfairly attempts to portray anyone who attends these rallies, opposes this wild government spending, or didn’t vote for the Almighty Obama as part of the “cesspool of intolerance and hate.” I watched 8 years of Bush as Chimpy McBushhitler and Cheney as Darth Vader; and now a few people dress up as Washington to protest spending and they are referred to as “teabaggers” (ha ha) and Mr. Russo calls them all a bunch a racist yahoos.

  6. Eric Says:

JiC, we can agree to disagree on the true nature of Palin political rallies. You saw them as polite political discourse. I saw them as intolerance and right wing lunacy on display. No sense beating that one up. I think given the outcome of the election that my version is closer to the truth – perception or not. The key thing is no leader in the Republican Party – most especially the candidate for Presiden himself – did enough in time to stop the perception. By the time McCain started taking on crowds it was way too late.

Is it unfortunate that some there who were just reasoned conservatives/Republicans were painted with the broad Palin Mob brush? Sure. Should they have spoken up louder against these lunatics? Uhuh.

Winning political campaigns is about perception and message. This past election saw one of the best at it versus one of the worst. I’d offer advice, but I really wouldn’t want anyone on your side to follow any of it. ;-)

  7. Yoshi99 Says:

Keep the video up. The folks on the video aren’t nearly as vitriolic as many Obama haters were during the campaign, but it’s clear why they want it taken down. The wingnuts have made a veritable cottage industry out of calling the democrats “hateful” and “angry,” and this video (and others like it) show the hypocrisy in those claims. I think the video exposes an ugly side to the campaign some folks would really like to forget … which is hardly a reason to erase history.

  8. Will Says:

I watched 8 years of Bush as Chimpy McBushhitler and Cheney as Darth Vader; and now a few people dress up as Washington to protest spending and they are referred to as “teabaggers” (ha ha) and Mr. Russo calls them all a bunch a racist yahoos.
    ====================================================================

And that is different from being told for 8 years that you ‘hate America’ and ‘blame America first’ and ‘love terrorists’ how, exactly? Shoe’s on the other foot. I know many who have tried for reasonable dialogue for years. The vast majority of these people are from the left.

As for not liking Obama’s policies on spending and government growth, they are no different that the last 8 years and yet suddenly there’s this uproar. What has changed? Policies? Nope. Party in charge? Yep. so there’s the crux of issue for these well-fed complainers. It has nothing to do with spending and everything to do with (D).

  9. McScrooge Says:

Take the money and remove it. Dozens of people will instantly re-upload it. We’ll all get rich!

  10. Sheldon Says:

If you offer to pay the money, I think she may have grounds to press charges of extortion on you? (blackmail?) I’m obviously not a lawyer, but before you say anything about money, you should seriously consider talking to a lawyer first. I smell a trap.

  11. highway Says:

if you won’t take the money to take the video down, i’ll take the money to not watch it again. :D

  12. JasonC Says:

My take: get her to fucking tell who the fuck she is… have her pay you the $100… edit out her part in the vid… keep it up.

That, or take the money, and I’m sure any number of us has the wherewithal to make a few mirror links of it on youtube. Maybe we can ALL make money off her!

  13. Greg Says:

    Fuck them all!

  14. Tom65 Says:

oh PLEASE tell me it’s the obnoxious blonde who keeps jumping in front of the camera..

  15. bird Says:

I just sent you $20 keep the video up.

  16. Alex Says:

Keep it up! It’s perfectly obvious these people were quite aware they were being taped. They do not have a leg to stand on. Oh, and I love how JIC talks about not seeing the hatred and bigotry at the rallies for Palin, but then refers to “Almighty Obama”. That tells you all you need to know. He’s bought into the idea that those who voted for Obama were looking to him as the new Messiah. It’s a ridiculous talking point started by the right and it remains just as loony. Apparently those on the right do not think there is a place for politicians between saints and sinners, so they make the ridiculous claim that WE think he’s a saint because we voted for him. I (and the majority of the country) voted for Obama, because we liked his ideas better than John McCain’s. These voters don’t think he’s a saint or a messiah, just a decent man. The real problem is that it’s been so long since a decent man occupied that office, he must seem like a saint.

  17. Greg Says:

Please, do not ever remove this video. They are the party of responsibility and accountability. Let’s help them live their preached values.

As I said earlier, fuck them all!

  18. Jim in Cleveland Says:

In terms of who is responsible for the spending, I will agree that Bush was irresponsible, as was the Congress. But to say “It has nothing to do with spending and everything to do with (D),” is a little silly, doncha think. As Dean Martin says in Back to School, I don’t think you realize the amounts we are talking about here. For all Bush’s fiscal irresponiblity, the REALLY wild spending began with the first TARP money, which some Republicans opposed. If you read something other than liberal blogs and news sources, you will see that Bush has been criticized for YEARS for overspending. The reason for the protests now is that it has increased exponentially, and as a Keynesian solution for our recent economic woes.

Eric’s assessment that the GOP sucked in its message in 2008 could not be more right–but to call conservativism dead will be a HUGE mistake for the Left. When I referred to “Almighty Obama,” it was a reference to the reverential treatment the press gave him (not that anyone who voted for him believes he is the Messiah). One would have to be loony NOT to see that.

  19. Tim Russo Says:

    thanks guys! aren’t wingnuts fun?

  20. Adam Harvey Says:

DON’T TAKE THE MONEY. IT IS A TRAP. THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS A PRIVATE BANK AND ALL “MONEY” IS WORTHLESS UNTIL WE LEAVE FIAT CURRENCY BEHIND AND RETURN TO THE GOLD STANDARD. HURF DURF WHITE SLAVERY.

  21. Alex Says:

Yeah, I remember the reverential treatment Obama received when the Jeremiah Wright story broke. A never-ending loop of G—amm America on every station for about week an a half. Right, and remember how NO ONE in the media ever was talking about Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground movement for weeks on end? Let’s see: The “terrorist fist jab”, Michelle hates the US, and whitey. Meanwhile, McCain was painted as the decorated war hero by everyone (except the internet, of course). When he took a ceremonial dump on veterans by helping kill a bill to increase their benefits and there was not a peep of that anywhere except on the internet. I remember CNN running individual special reports on McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden. Each story was balanced out; I remember them reporting that Obama won his first election in Illinois by ruthlessly knocking his competitor off the ballot with a technicality. Obama received good coverage and bad coverage. The entire month of August was a fest of bad coverage for him. The polls showed McCain ahead for about a week. The economy tanked and McCain’s side lost their minds (or appeared to). A series of rash, terrible decisions followed, “fundamentals of the economy are strong”, “suspending” his campaign, etc. In the end, McCain and his camp descended into vitriol (pallin’ around with terrorists, seriously?) and they received it back in kind by the coverage they received.

  22. Alex Says:

Okay, so not only is she a crazy wingnut, but she’s a cheap one as well! That’s what she’s buying with her extra money from the tax cut she got:)

  23. Mary Jo Says:

OK, I put in $20 to keep it up.

  24. AnglRdr Says:

Not only should you keep the video up, you should find out more about these people, such as where they work, and then send the video to their employers.

People can be racist all they want to, what with the free speech and all. But part of speaking your stupid mind is that if you do it in public and on video, others are going to find out about it.

    My point: stop being stupid.

  25. highway Says:

jim: i agree with some of what you say, the worst mistake the right made during their recent monopoly on power was to contemplate becoming a “permanent majority” and a lot of the left is now engaging in the same hubris. the left needs to stay salty and criticize its own policies if they want to stay in power, not just complacently assume they’ll always be on top because the right has plainly, for the moment, lost their game.

that said, the only precedent we have for depression-era solutions is the keynesianism of FDR. his detractors claim that wwii actually broke the depression but in doing so they’re still tacitly admitting that government stimulus spending is the solution to economic busts, not trickle-down economics. which does appear to me, until someone comes up with a convincing argument to the contrary, seems plainly to be what’s gotten us where we are now.

  26. R Says:

I have been reading your blog since I moved to Cleveland last year.

I hate seeing my neighbors as they show themselves in your videos, but keep up the good work.

  27. Jim in Cleveland Says:

The lost decade of Japan is another example of the Keynesian model failing. And what has gotten us here is not the so-called “trickle-down,” but government acting as the pimp to the mortgage lending industry.

I am finished with this string, but I just want to say my biggest sadness of blogs like this is not the disagreement (fairly done by types like Eric and highway), but the vitriol and hubris (nice word, highway) of those who think we on the right are all “wingnuts.”

  28. JupiterPluvius Says:

The lost decade of Japan is another example of the Keynesian model failing

What? No, it isn’t. It’s an example of how letting business dominate regulatory agencies doesn’t work. Economics–learn you some. The thing that snapped Japan out of the lost decade was GREATER government intervention, not LESS government intervention.

  29. Connecticut Man1 Says:

Jeebuzz cripes! She is cheap. I’ve turned down more money from people asking me for a simple link and to keep Blogging about what I Blog about. I ain’t sayin’ it is bad to want to earn money from your Blog nor that people wanting to pay a Blogger something is bad, but these idiots think they can buy your integrity? Fuck’em. I hope you get rich off her stupidity. I really do. If there is any real justice in the world you will make enough to keep doin’ what you do and she will have to live a life of shame.

  30. Jim in Cleveland Says:

Learn you some? JP, the Japanese government poured money into propping up businesses over the 90’s, and the economy barely grew. The national debt sure did, though. Only when the banks had to acknowledge bad debt did the economy ease. I fear we are following the same couse PM Miyazawa took–pumping good money after bad with nothing to show for it.

I just don’t understand why the same poeple who continually want to raise corporate taxes, already the highest in the world, want to give money to companies that fail.

  31. Jymn Says:

The thing is, Jim, these are the people who kept Bush in power for 8 years. Wars, torture, lies, recession, depression, fraying of habeas corpus – all this stuff went over their heads because Fox News promotes the Republican agenda 24/7. The ‘misinformed and ignorant’ people in this video need to be shown to the mass audience so they can see themselves for what they are. They have no clue. The teabaggers show they have not learned. They are not ones for self-examination. They need to see themselves and be mocked so they can learn. Ignorance is not bliss. It is a killer to a country. And it almost killed the US.

  32. Connecticut Man1 Says:

P.S.: Anyone thinking that maybe someone with political aspirations is watching them go down the tubes because of some insane words on a YouTube video? lol Just a thought…

  33. Mr Blifil Says:

To all you troglodyte apologists for the fascist ravings depicted on tape, go stick a teabag where the sun don’t shine. Nobody is interested. Jim in Cleveland, et alia, the time has passed when you could pretend that comments like “government-backed mortgages caused a financial collapse” constituted an honest argument. Those days are over. You lost. Your party lost. You are in eclipse. You never mattered to begin with. You matter less now.

  34. AnglRdr Says:

Jim, here’s some good reading on the Lost Decade; there are some pretty good lessons learned. Note in particular the departure of Japanese economic policy from Keynesean principals: http://www.aei.org/publications/pubID.27568/pub_detail.asp

  35. Jessica in Baltimore Says:

I’m in for $20. Like it or not, if these women were so concerned with their image, they should have acted like grown-ups and thought twice about what they were saying into a stranger’s camera.

How’s that shit sandwich taste, ladies?

  36. tim russo Says:

UPDATE: I just bought an 18 pack of Bud courtesy of that wingnut bitch. Thanks guys!!! I think I have a new business model!!!

  37. Jim in Cleveland Says:

Thank you, AnglRdr. Strange you should cite the AEI, but after a quick read of this, I mostly agree with it, when it comes to Japan’s lost decade. Careful–citing the AEI may have some of these folks calling you a teabagger or worse, a troglodyte. Simply saying raising taxes is not the right idea may also put you in league with David Duke, Ivan the Terrible, or worse, that blonde lady at the Strongsville rally.

  38. Hunger Tallest Palin Says:

I’m not sure that it is wise or safe to laugh this hard.

Anyway, I came here via Wonkette to beg you to KEEP THIS FUKKIN VIDEO UP.

  39. Just sayin' Says:

I traveled from Mudflats via Wonkette to here to echo those who say KEEP IT UP. I much prefer seeing these folks showing their faces on YouTube to hiding under white sheets. They should have the courage of their convictions. After all, it is the American Way and a wonderful personification of the freedoms under the First Amendment. Every time they see this video, they can be grateful for their freedom of speech.

    Just sayin’

  40. Adriana Says:

Agree wholeheartedly with Jim in Cleveland (#1)

I would get pretty upset if I went to a protest about something I really believe in and an obvious right-wing sympathizer tried to bait me with leading questions and snotty remarks so that he could post it on his pro right-wing or McCain/Palin-fan blog. Probably some dumb, not well-thought out responses would slip out. Gotcha! This kind of tactic just creates more barriers between two highly polarized masses of individuals who already have trouble understanding what the other side is all about.

  41. Adriana Says:

Oops. Just agreed with Jim in Cleveland without reading all of his posts. Not good, since, well, I *don’t* agree with them. I was agreeing with his first post, and I guess it went downhill from there. I don’t comment much on blogs, and look at what happens when I do!

  42. dmd76 Says:

    @Adriana:
So “do you think Obama is a terrorist?” is a leading question? And being asked this question while obviously on camera is some kind of high trickery? I’m pretty certain that someone who believes Obama is in league with Al Qaeda has no interest in “understanding what the other side is all about”. As an Obama supporter (and what lefty wouldn’t agree with JiC’s comments?), don’t you think holding insane opinions about your political opponents trumps making gotcha videos as far as impediments to comity go?

  43. dmd76 Says:

    @Adriana:
Was writing my comment before your second appeared; sorry for the snide “what lefty wouldn’t agree with JiC” bit.

  44. lissonifan Says:

I am marveling at the prospect of this person drafting a contract, much less typing it up.

  45. highway Says:

ah yes, mphillips, just the sort of level-headed talk that will get people turning out in droves to vote republican in 2010. keep it up.

  46. Blanca DeBree Says:

It is wrong to take advantage of this woman. She obviously didn’t understand you were video taping you. Most conservatives don’t understand what cameras are and how they work. If we did, we wouldn’t say outrageous things on camera.

You can help end this terrible ignorance. For just pennies a day, you can send a conservative to school,so they can learn what cameras are and how they work. Our special curriculum is Baby Jesus approved and science free. Please donate today.

  47. Yoshi99 Says:

MPhillips response shows how dangerous these folks are and why it’s crucial to keep them out in the sunshine. Otherwise, they’ll crawl back into their fetid holes and scream about how evil and unjust it is when we question their real alliances. Any nimrod confronted with the question, “Is [presidential candidate X] a terrorist,” and doesn’t immediately respond, “Of course not,” deserves to be preserved in the public eye for condemnation for all time.

  48. highway Says:

@dmd76 — i’m gonna play a little bit of devil’s advocate here; when i went to antiwar rallies back in 03, 04 i saw t-shirts with bush’s face on them and the legend “international terrorist.” now, of course, pre-emptively attacking iraq arguably could qualify as an act of terrorism (what is “shock and awe” if not the manipulation of fear in innocent civilians to achieve a political outcome?) so i think the problem isn’t necessarily referring to the POTUS as a “terrorist” and that this is an intrinsic wrong, but that if you DO refer to the POTUS as a terrorist, you have to have a good explanation why, not just that he shook bill ayers’ hand or went to a particular church.

  49. Adriana Says:

@dmd76 No, “is Obama a terrorist” is not a leading question, but at least in one instance the questions were obviously leading to some conclusion..

A:”How long have you known about Sarah Palin?” B:”One month.” A:”How long have you known about Barack Obama?” B:”About a year.” A:”So you know Sarah Palin better than you know Obama??” A:”Well, she has given more interviews…” B:”Oh REALLY?” Etc.

OK, not word for word, but I think that is pretty leading, especially the “So you know Sarah Palin better?” I think the tactics are more obvious in the Tea Party video, and I think you know what I mean here: tactics are being employed to ruffle feathers. I just don’t really see the value in videos that are simply aimed at showing that some people at a rally are not so informed about their opinions.

I wonder how the rally attendees would answer to a more formal kind of interview (i.e. introducing oneself beforehand and asking if taping the interview is OK, and then asking less biased questions). I think the soundbytes would be just as insightful, if not more. Here it just turns into confrontations with one party hiding behind a camera.

  50. OhCrapIHaveACrushOnSarahPalin Says:

@adriana The moral of the story is, DON’T TALK INTO A STRANGER’S CAMERA IN THE AGE OF YOU TUBE.

Or one better, don’t talk into a stranger’s camera ever, at all.

Nobody forced them to go on camera with their precious views, now they get what they get: reminder after reminder of what they are and that the whole world now knows it.

  51. Lone Democrat Says:

OK, I live in the Republican bastion that is Sarasota, FL (also widely known as Katherine Harris town). I had to listen to, and try to refute, this kind of shit for eight miserable years. Keep the video on and play it on a loop so these assholes can be seen for what they are; hate-mongering idiots.

  52. AJ Says:

    I sent $5. That’s all that’s left after the previous 8 years.

I figure- I’d spend $5 on a DVD rental that wouldn’t give me half the laughs these imbeciles on YouTube offer me. My humor gland thanks you.

  53. Jennifer Says:

I think this video is just a way to “try” and combat the ones floating around about Obama supporters. My personal favorite is the one where the interviewees were told McCain’s policies as Obama’s and vice versa, and they agreed with Obama’s policies every time-not knowing they were actually McCain’s.

  54. Miles Says:

The only wingnut here is clearly you, blogger. Anyone who would collect a paycheck in order to actively work against the freedom of speech and the right to protest is someone who doesn’t really have a soul. You sold out, brother. I hope it works for you when you grow old and are lonely and look back on your life to measure the worth of your life. Pretty empty stuff there dude.

  55. WingNutFroth Says:

Keep it up! Keep the fukken thing up! A little light on the bigots is always a good thing.

As for being on camera, blah blah, hey — I worked as a volunteer for the Obama campaign and we were told in no uncertain terms that there would be NO bad talk about our opponents. We could debate with people who were not sure, but not with decided voters. We were to register EVERYONE no matter who they wanted to vote for. Etc. Plenty of times, I got into it with wingnuts just because I approached them to register them to vote if they wanted. We never argued, even when they through “baiting” crap at me and called me a “Ni**er lover”.

In fact, I manged to turn a few when I told them I supported their right to vote their conscience, and that Obama did, too, because that is American.

If I can keep my cool when a racist kkkonservative kkklown is spewing hatred at me, this lady can answer a question on camera without saying hateful things. It’s called having some sense and losing the entitlement to be an a**. THe kkkonservatives sure act as if they feel entitled to rule forever. Methinks they need a refresher on democracy and how it works.

Love the wing nut comparison to the left’s rallies against an illegal war, acting as if there are no variables. Are they that stupid or are they simply unwilling to ascribe any weight to the illegal war Bush started on a lie, the expanded powers of the ex office he gave himself, the decimation of the constitution as implemented per his instructions by an illegally politicized DoJ, and the destruction of the 3 arms of government under Bush? Is it their contention that 2 months into a presidency is a logical and reasonable amount of time to judge a POTUS?LOL.

As for these videos not being a good representation of the Tea Bagging bigots, all you have to do is round out your kkkolection with “The Right feeling wronged”.

I rest my kkkase, kkkonservatives. If you talk like a racist POS, and you act like a racist POS, then you are a racist POS.

  56. Jennifer Says:

fukken, bigots, wingnuts, racist kkkonservative kkklown, stupid, Tea Bagging bigots, racist POS—all taken from your post, in which you seem to be arguing a “NO bad talk about our opponents” policy. More typical liberal comments.
As for the “illegal war Bush started on a lie”, I am curious as to how he got away with forging the video filmed of the planes hitting the Towers, the Pentagon and the field in PA. I would love to know how much he paid those who called loved ones from the planes before they went down. Also, where DID those buildings go? Was this a trick akin to Copperfield making an elephant disappear?

  57. AnglRdr Says:

Jennifer, how many Iraqis hijacked those planes again, because I seem to recall that there were none (zero). (The war in Iraq is the one Bush is accused of lying us into; you recall General Powell testifying about Iraq attempting to acquire yellowcake and whatnot, I am sure.)

  58. BrownBook Says:

Dude, you can’t take it down. This stuff needs to be seen.

  59. amy Says:

Fact: Too much hair coloring rots your brain.

  60. Lysergic Asset Says:

Great video (and blog). This is the first comment thread I have ever followed for 60 comments that did not devolve into some psychotically fragmented ideological fighting match. Glad to know it’s actually safe to read an entire comment thread here.
