Tea Party paranoids harass my ass out

Politics

I’ve been doing video of right wing nutbags for a long time, but this one was the most disturbing event I’ve ever attended.  The rotting racist rabid rump of Republicanism has been reduced to a twitching crowd of paranoids.  I got harassed away by a growing mob of jackasses, some of whom are in this video.  I tried to get the police to stop them, to no avail.  After about a half hour of these thugs chasing me around the event, I just left.  I’m sure they’ll show up here in comments to harass some more.  But I got some stuff on camera, and now it’s on Youtube, because that’s how I roll.

Anyhow, here’s the video.  And to the guys who chased me out, go teabag each other why don’t you.  Every single one of you needs psychotherapy.

UPDATE:  And to the black guy who keeps comment spamming my blog to claim credit for harassing me out, who was the only black guy in the crowd, who seemed to wear it as a badge of honor that he was the asshole following me around like an insane person – did it ever occur to your stupid ass that every single person in that crowd would rather see your black ass swinging from a lamp post than standing there holding a flag?  I didn’t think so.  You stupid fuck.

Fucking awesome. For getting run out of there you got some great vid. I love the “Is this for your private collection?” lady. She said that sort of sexy, gettin’ ready to lay down a teabaggin’ style.

  2. redhorse Says:

    WHO R U?

    UR SIDE CERTAINLY HAS!

ARE U IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

I love it when they don’t know why they think and feel the way they think and feel. The inability isn’t inarticulate, it’s brainless, it’s Rush/Beck/Faux News leading clueless lambs.

  3. mvirenicus Says:

another great job, tim. i’m glad you’re willing to do it because i’m too damned old to stick my neck out there like that. i had a close encounter with a wingnut loon at the post office today while mailing tax returns. these people are obviously volatile. let me guess. the meathead with the “9-11 inside job” shirt was one of your chasers.

Projecting are we? You wouldn’t catch me at one of those TPs, but I have to say you are being extremely unfair here. I have several friends who went to it, and while I disagree with their politics, they are all decent people. You only come off sounding childish and immature with posts like this.

  5. Terri Says:

I really thought you were disrespectful to these people. I know how hard it must be to go out and put yourself on the line and you’re obviously a very strong person but your stance seemed to be “you’re an idiot and I’m going to ask you questions until you prove it”.

Did you ask if they would like to be interviewed before you interviewed them? Perhaps that’s why they were putting cameras back in your face.

Often times, it seemed like you were trying to put words in their mouths instead of trying to understand them. No one appreciates that. If you’re respectful, you always behave as if that person has something valuable to say and that they could inform you, even if you know better.

You frequently would cut them off before they had finished what they had to say.

And ultimately if they were there, they were standing by what they believed. Paranoid people that they are probably become very afraid when people stick cameras in their faces and ask them tons of quesitions. I’m sure you would agree people should never feel intimidated to peaceably assemb.e The movement, though I’m sure it would be full of things I disagree with, is not misplaced in and of itself. There should be limits on spending and taxes….the reminder is necessary, even if this isn’t the right time for it. The guy who was talking about China not lending us money anymore or asking for us to start paying back the deficit has a very good point.

I’m writing this because I think a major advantage we liberals have is we seem like the level-headed reasonable party right now. Had the economy not tanked, I think that’s what would have won it for us.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t film wackos, just don’t do it while making yourself seem like a jerk. Let them talk and talk and talk and the whole time just listen…you’ll get plenty of good footage.

Also, that guy was right. It’s not about winning. It’s about who is doing the right thing that’s in question. We all have to live with the consequences…together.

    Respectfully,
    Terri

  6. NYinParis Says:

Being the only Obama guy out there amongst those zombies, you must have felt like Duane Jones trying to make it to the gas pump. Next time bring a torch to keep back the fiesty ones. Nice footage btw.

NYinParis (where we know how to protest)

  7. M1 Says:

if and whene I see you again. I remember your face, I rember the chase, I got your plate, I will shot an unarmed man, you better arm yourself. I want you out of the country on a permanant status. happy hunting!

  8. Timothy Gandee Says:

I see you didn’t want to include my message about the Federal Reserve which both Bush and Obama abused to achieved their goals of an overreaching Federal Government.

Thanks for at least interviewing me again.

Put up some of the facts that I put forth, that there was no income tax befoore 1913 and no Federal Reserve before 1913. Every dollar paid into income taxes goes to this private bank.

  9. Sharon Says:

Why do you liberals always project your attitudes and feelings onto others? Paranoid tea party? I was there. In fact, I was in the area when the black gentleman called you out for being on the sexual offender list.

As I recall, you approached him with your camera in his face. You were quite surprised when he recognized you. And, although I was trying to listen to the speeches, I remember the gentleman commenting to a fellow attendee about who you were after you had fled the scene. If this gentleman followed you around and harassed you as you say, why didn’t you include this footage in your film?

If you have a different opinion than the rest of the people attending the event–that is fine. After all, this is still America. But please, don’t project your feelings of animosity and paranoia towards the black gentleman on us.

I guess you wanted to show in your very edited film clip about how people who have a camera shoved in their face are not very articulate about their beliefs. It makes me wonder, then, why you must rely on sexual slang terms to denigrate those you disagree with. I guess what you lack in intelligent argument you can supplement with trash talk. Gotta love liberals like you…

  10. Timothy Gandee Says:

    Sharon,

The black gentleman was absolutely right. Tim Russo likes to bring up fringe arguments to make us look crazy. So how about them apples?

The real issue is that there is no difference between either party. The Federal Reserve finances all of the nonsense. The root of our problem is the Federal Reserve who is staffed by Wall Street, who also staffs our Treasury. Both Obama and Bush love the Federal Reserve and love expandingthe money supply to grow the Federal Government beyond its constitutional scope.

HR 1207 Audit the Federal Reserve. Call your Congressman today. The Federal Reserve should tell us what they have done with $10-12 Trillion dollars that were created out of thin air. There is a giant slush fund of fraud that goes between Wall Street, The Federal Reserve, and other private central banks throughout the world. The truth will set us free.

  11. NYinParis Says:

That was pretty low IMO, and also, how does anyone know its really his record. public criminal record searches often give back results which seem to be the right guy, then you notice stuff like the age is wrong. “Date of Birth: 08/23/1967″ While I could be wrong, the guy interviewing doesnt really sound like a 42 year old guy. Either way, its typical of ppl on the losing end of a debate to change the subject like that. Whats his past record have to do with anything? and really, what do those charges amount to? giving a beer to a 19 year old? who cares.

  12. Timothy Gandee Says:

    NYinParis
Ask Mr. Russo to cover aspects abouthe Federal Reserve. I was not just bashing Obama. WAKE UP.

Mr. Russo likes to change subjects too. Again, see how the Federal Reserve funds both parties. Obama is not the problem. Bush was not the problem. Both parties are the same.

As far as criminal records are concerned, just because someone doesn’t sound like they are 42 does not mean they are not. I look like I’m a teenager, but I am 30.

Go ahead and accuse me of doing something that you cheered Mr. Russo for doing. Fire fighting fire.

  13. Timothy Gandee Says:

19 year olds are not minors. People generally are not arrested for doing nothing wrong.

  14. NYinParis Says:

Ya know what? I dont know the guy (at all) but I think hes there just to get you guys wound up, and it seems like its working. While the video was “amusing”, I guess I should look more into his blog before saying anything else. Guess I’m a typical NYer, sometimes I see a dispute on the sidewalk, and grab some popcorn to stop and watch, nothing more. Guess I’ll look more into both sides, this is getting interesting. Either way, I dont see how this went from politics to police records. Its nothing to do with his political beliefs (if he indeed has any) cuz as I said, I get the impression he’s there to stir up attention, which is exactly what he’s getting.

  15. Timothy Gandee Says:

Criminal records absolutely have relevance to politics. The politicians make the rules. You are right, his conviction is a low blow, but this guy just baits the ignorant and leaves out those who bring attention to the real issue.

Plus, you should have seen Tim Russo’s face when the gentleman brought up his sex offender conviction. Mr. Russo turned pale and I understood the look in his face.

Mr. Russo needs to educate himself that Obama and Bush are both the same administrations. Fundamental policies like war, deficit spending, corporate fascism, and taking away the civil and economic rights of the people have not changed one bit.

Both administrations have robbed us blind. If you don’t see that you are not paying attention.

  16. Timothy Gandee Says:

By the way, I LOVE NY. What a great city.

  17. NYinParis Says:

Yeah, NYs great, but its better living in the bordering cities, so as to keep the crack smoking and getting mugged down to weekend only activities ;)

  18. Mark C. Roles, Esq. Says:

What exactly is the point of this aburdity, really? I remember another blogger or two going out and interviewing Obama supporters prior to the election, interviews which revealed, among other things, that these particular supporters didn’t even know the then-vice president of the United States, couldn’t identify the three branches of the federal government, etc. Should we have interpreted that to mean that ALL Obama supporters were misguided, misinformed, and just plain dumb? Of course not. Likewise, you have taken a few individuals and made a generalization about a much larger group of people. This is intellectually dishonest, and you know it.

  19. QueerCincinnati Says:

    Intellectually dishonest? Sure.

    Funny as hell though.

  20. Will Says:

I have to kinda echo what Terri said. I think you went about it wrong and interviewed people in a somewhat rude manner. I believe you would have served your cause a lot better had you been more up front with them and asked if they wanted to be interviewed at all and if so, simply let them defend their side rather than trying to get them to look foolish.

If you and your side are right or if these people really are nuts, it wouldn’t have been very hard to make them look that way. If you had simply interviewed them, I think you would have a much more worthwhile video here for all concerned.

I must say to clarify where I am coming from, I do not really affiliate with any party. I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. I would have voted for Ron Paul had I been given the chance. So I would say that I align myself somewhat with many in this video (I even saw a Ron Paul sign) but not totally. I believe we are over taxed and we spend wastefully, but I do not have any beef with Obama. I hated Bush and saw McCain as a continuation of that.

But I think you misrepresented a lot of the people in this crowd. I think the majority or close to it were Libertarians, contrary to the popular belief and portrayal of them all being Republicans. The majority of them aren’t crazy or out to bad mouth the Dems, they are just tired of our country overstepping the bounds of the Constitution and spending way more than needs to be spent. I know I speak for a lot of them too when I say we don’t just want less income tax, we want NO income tax.

  21. karrsic Says:

Riiight. The articulate responses were edited out. ROTFLMAO. Great vid.

  22. Liz Says:

Wow, man, you were right about getting more harassment from wingnuts. I’m glad you were there to document this insanity, and that you got out safe. I wish you only the best in your efforts int he future, including your safety as you document life.

It is sad that these people are all that’s left of the vocal minority that is the GOP. Makes me sad, but also makes me very optimistic of the future of this country. If this is what the great right wing has been reduced to, it make me wonder how much long the barking junkyard dog at the end of it s chain will become a purse dog peeing on the rug every now and then, barking like noise has power. Well, THAT we already have.

Blessings and protection to you and your work. Keep it up, man.

  23. Alex Says:

Crazy black guy at a cracker rally? By chance, was his name Clayton Bigsby?

  24. Johnny Rebel Says:

You people are diseased. A cancer to be cut out of America. As long as you keep to yourselves and tell each other how smart you are you feel superior. Nice editing by the way. Completely honest. Just like something out of chairman Mao’s playbook.

  25. Ron Martinez Says:

So everyone that disagrees with you and was at the Tea Party is a racist? Fuck you you arrogant, stupid, piece of shit.

  26. Shameless Agitator Says:

Tim, you struck a nerve. I assume you have the IP address and info on those making the death threats to you.

  27. chris Says:

i really liked that bit about war spending. you walked her around in a perfect circle. that was a beautiful moment.

  28. Bob Shores Says:

Where was this rally? Arkansas or Mississippi? I felt embarrassed for these Neanderthals while watching this clip.

  29. The Real Eye on America Says:

A conservative tea party is nothing like a liberal bloatfest. Your video is the proof. Take a good look at the ground. You don’t see a lick of litter. Compare that to the Obummer inauguration. The Damn liberals left a mountain of trash on the lawn. Do you know how much it cost the taxpayers of this country to clean up that mess? But since you assholes don’t pay taxes anyways, why would you give a shit?

  30. Dianne Says:

The smugness of this liberal blogger, Tim, was breath-taking. He would have people believe that only an idiot would put their coat on and carry a sign protesting the U.S. government. He must be college educated to be that smug. Come to think of it, we have a plethora of smugness running the government now. (My apologies to any Tea Partier who went to college; my attention span was too short to attend for very long.)

I felt very comfortable – and proud – being with my fellow protesters that day. I was with honest people with no agenda other than to practice one of their basic American rights, complain when someone seems to be trampling on their Constitution.

It’s a big country and there’s room for even Tim-the-Smug-Blogger.

  31. Tim Says:

You sir caused the problem at the ralley . And the people that believe your bull are just as ignorent as you are. You MSNBC and CNN are all lyers. Because of left wing Idiots like you. I am ASHAMED to say that I was ever Demacrat. But now that I have seen the light along with 3200 other X Demacrats that have joined the Republican party. You can take credit for that allso. Oh by the way did you let everyone hear know that 43% of the people that Attended the tea party was Demacrat. The only sexest, racial, and violent people are right here and on the far left. So why don”t you Quit the Political haterid and try being an American for once. God Bless and help you all

  32. Tim Says:

All you Tim Russo followers need to view this. Did you tell them you were a child sex http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7824579.stmoffender.

  33. mvirenicus Says:

Commenter Tim, here’s some help with your spelling. You obviously meant:

    rally
    ignorant
    liars
    Democrat
    also
    here
    sexist
    hatred

Maybe if you pray harder to Jesus he will provide you a dictionary.

  34. Will Says:

    Commenter Tim,
You are way off man. The Republican party is way worse than the Democratic Party, but they both suck.

Likewise, FOX “News” is way worse than CNN and MSNBC but they all suck. Watch CSPAN if you really care about politics and this country.

  35. Randy Says:

Funny My GF & I went to the Tea Party here in Phoenix & no one lynched her for being Hispanic?
