“Women for Lee” missing just about all the most important women in Ohio politics

Mark Naymik on the Women for Lee list.
The list of hosts and sponsors is impressive…
It’s impressive if you’re (a) not paying attention, or (b) running for county commissioner from Shaker Hts., yes. But if you’re running for US Senate? Let’s go to Modern.
Ohio has four Democratic Congresswomen: Kaptur, Fudge, Sutton, and Kilroy. Fudge, being a NEO pol, and successor to the late Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones, should be on that list. She’s not. Not one of Ohio’s Congresswomen are listed as being part of Women for Fisher. Senate Minority Leader Capri Cafaro? Not on board (publicly at least) for Fisher. Senate Assistant Minority Leader Shirley Smith (D-Cleveland)? Also, not on the list. House Majority Floor Leader Jennifer Garrison? Assistant Majority Floor Leader Tracy Maxwell Heard? Both nanda.
Sherrod Brown’s wife, Connie Schultz? Not on the list. Despite her husband’s endorsement, where’s Ohio First Lady Frances Strickland? Well, she’s apparently not going to be at Fisher for Women’s fundraiser next Wednesday.
Joyce Beatty isn’t there. Ohio Clinton superdelegates Enid Goubeaux, Rhine McClin and Pat Moss, are also not on the list. Susan Gwinn, Athens County chair, isn’t there. Feel free to peruse the county chairs list for more powerful Ohio Democratic “Women Who Aren’t For Lee”.
But there are also some very important Cuyahoga Dem names missing - Cuyahoga County Clinton delegates Lana Moresky and Renee Lipson – not there. Karen Pianka, who has been in city politics for decades – not. Georgine Welo, mayor of South Euclid – not. State Rep. Barbara Boyd who represents Cleveland Hts – not on the list. State Rep. CJ Prentiss – not. And these are just the people you’d expect to be hosting, sponsoring, or a guest.
I agree with Modern – “Women for Lee” is yet another indication that Lee is so worried about Brunner’s candidacy that he is permanently reactive to it. It’s a premature attempt to cover for a perceived weakness by throwing out some half-baked pander. What you end up with is a group of women who would be on Lee’s fundraising committee if he ran for dog catcher 15 years from now. It’s really pretty sad.
