A funny thing happened on the way to the Tea Party

Politics

UPDATE: Wonkette links.  Yay!  I think me and Wonkette may have been separated at birth.

When I posted my Tea Party video on Friday, I figured it would get picked up by national lefty blogs, and was pretty disappointed when it didn’t.  After all, it scuppers the entire message of these Tea Parties – the people at these events are the fringe of the fringe, almost beyond sanity.  Alas.  So the video languishes away on my Youtube channel, currently at only 3,700 views.

But the comments on the video have exploded.  On Monday the comments were around 200.  On Tuesday morning they were around 500.  This morning, there are now 920 comments, making the video the #15 most discussed Youtube in News & Politics this week, #85 this month.

And if you take one brief glance, you’ll notice that the comment section of this Youtube has become a seminar room for every twist and turn in the absurd saga of whether or not Barack Obama was born in the US – they cite court cases, various plaintiffs, birth certificate practices, what would happen if Obama stepped down – it veers into the insane.

Obama will not stand his story being brought out, even negatively, to the mainstream+will buckle and run like black guys do, when discovered they always run like O.J. Simpson..we always catch them even of it’s later-

More.

Also Bill Richardson in on tape saying Obama is an immigrant.

Case Closed

Tom Tancredo makes an appearance.

What do you know what I did? I wrote to Bush many times and as a matter of fact wrote and donated to Tom Tancredo to IMPEACH BUSH for the illegals invasion.

What we have now is the WORST BUSH 3rd Term Nightmare Imaginable.

PONZI PREZ is a FRAUD.

And finally, insanity prevails this morning.

This video is important because it represents the turning-point of the Obama scandal. “When the pople woke up”.

That’s how demented the Republican right has become.  They look at a video clearly intended to mock them, and accept its premise as truth.  Maybe its time that a national blog picks this thing up.

We have a name for these folks: Birthers.

There is no way, even if they were escorted into a huge vault in Hawaii and presented with a Birth Certificate with all the details they want (Doctor’s Signature, 87 witnesses, ad nauseum) that they would back down.

It’s just a way for them to avoid admitting their bigotry.

Good on ya for going out in the rain to confront them.

What kept running through my head while watching that: “How does it feel to be one of the lunatic people?”

I wonder how many of these folks are also convinced they’re under gov’t surveillance because of their brave support for the TRVTH.

Ah yes, So proud to be a Clevelander today… This ranks with the videos of those yahoos tearing up Municipal Stadium at the last Browns game there…

  6. mvirenicus Says:

yes senhor, how about the videos of browns fans pelting an injured photographer lying on the sidelines with snowballs and other debris? how about tribe fans trashing old municipal stadium on a cheap “beer night” promotion so that the game with the texas rangers had to be postponed? i was a young kid at the time of the latter incident and remember feeling horrified at the news reports. good old cleveland…

Nice video. I followed your address from your comment over at WriteChic. Didn’t realize you’d actually taken the video at first. Thanks for taking it. The discussion thread that this stimulated got a little . . . er . . . crazy.

My two cents on this: They have to actually prove something for this to stick, unless some people just roll over and give them free credibilty for no good reason. Their game is to try and maneuver people who don’t believe them into trying to disprove their arguments. That’s not necessary, and there’s no good reason to engage this on their terms.

Been writing on this a bit. I’ve located an old WaPo article about a political science professor who traced the story back to a guy who concocted it right after Obama gave his speech in 2004 as a campaign ploy. It got posted online, and a very small number of Freepers flogged it until Obama became a household name and it went viral. Also, there’s a group pushing a lawsuit that looks too stupid to succeed. They’re using it as a way of collecting signatures and they’re encouraging military people to sign a statement to become a co-plaintiffs. IMO, the statement isn’t facially illegal, but there’s no question but that it is seditious in spirit. They also have the backing of some retired generals who have ties to pro-war and anti-immigrant groups.

If this is old news to most folks here, I’m happy you’re already aware of it. But if you’d like to see the info, I can point you to a couple of posts and discussion threads that I and a few friends have used to compile the links over last week or so.

    :)
