VIDEO: McCain-Palin Mob Part 2 – Woman’s child says of Barack “you need gloves to touch him”
UPDATE – The reason I ask the African-American why he’s voting for McCain is that polling shows that ZERO percent of African Americans in Ohio are voting for McCain. So when you find one African-American supporting McCain, it’s news. That’s why I asked. Part 1 of The McCain Palin Mob in Strongsville, Ohio is here. Part 2 below. This video includes a family who believes Barack Obama is a terrorist. They brought an Obama doll, to show he’s a “puppet”, and when asked why, their small child says “you need gloves to touch him”. Bonus footage of 2 closeted gays – see if you can tell which ones!
Bottom line – I have never seen such a dangerous group of people at a presidential rally, so willing to announce their views to a guy holding a camera, and so transparently up to no good. These people are very easily incited, as we have seen, and they need to be exposed.
In particular, a woman, who teaches her own child, that the next president of the United States is so vile that “you need gloves to touch him” needs to be put on video, and see how her views look in the light of day. I don’t know how anyone can teach their own child this level of hate.
I really wonder how these people will react when they have to stand at attention, salute, and accept Barack Obama as our president. Because Barack Obama will be the next president. And these people’s small little worlds will be very different when that happens.

This webcast basically puts into a visual what the Pew Institute has been saying about Republicans. They are the most uneducated group of voters.
They will believe anything you tell them.

Ask them if they found out that Michelle Obama had stole Prescription medications from a charitible foundation, what would they think….then tell them it was Cindy McCain….
Ask them if they know who Chalabi is and John McCain’s support for him….
Ask them if one of the candidates spouses joined a political party which ideal was to seceed from the United States, how would they feel about aht person? Then tell them that is Todd Palin and Sarah Palin.
Ask them if they know how to think for themselves…..
But we know the answer to that question….

I attended the first presidential debate. The McCain supporters were just like this and worse. One of the visibility walks I participated in ended with a group of almost vicious McCain signwavers waiting for us and our “Change We Need” signs behind a building.
They don’t think. When presented with logic and reasonable questioning, they resort to shoulder shrugging, defense, and sarcasm.
It’s really very, very scary.

Great work! This video is very insightful and gives a candid view of people’s narrowmindedness. I commend you for having the guts to enter into McCain’s den of lions. I was saddened but not surprised by the apparent hatred and uneducation of the people interviewed.
It is clear in this random sampling that some of McCain’s demographics is stuck in the past. It is also clear that both McCain and Palin’s remarks to raise the question of “character and judgment” (yeah right)is unpatriotic and unpresidential. This type of pandering to voters’ emotions is divisive. The “he’s not like us” statement by Palin and standing by when there is a shout from the crowd exclaiming “kill him!” or “terrorist” or “treason” in reference to Obama needs to be admonished. This is becoming a win at all cost mission for McCain. Take a look for yourself at how the McCain campaign has handled their new pursuit of Obama over the past several days. It’s unfortunate that the McCain campaign is taking this road considering that BOTH of them have been in dealings and relationships in the past and present that have been questionable.
Bottom line…to incite a group of people with rhetoric that underlines the question of race or patriotism is unjustifiable. I do feel that it is okay to raise doubt by questioning a candidate’s character, but I also feel that there is a wrong way to do it and a right way to do it. Whoever the messenger is in front of the crowd has to be responsible and use responsible language, especially when speaking to the demographic that Palin and McCain have been courting.
Both candidates want to win, but at what cost? Some still don’t know that we are the UNITED states and this country was built on the backs of more than one race.

I read your post & I agree this isn’t journalism. But, I think we are so used to hearing the ‘nice’ or ‘correct’ questions & follow up questions, that we forget that someone should also ask the hard & dirty ones. Mainstream journalism isn’t doing the trick lately it seems. I think we have to confront this stuff head on & with a little bit of fight in us. These people have every opportunity to walk away or be quiet- the thing is, they don’t want to. Furthermore, when a person’s viewpoint isn’t challenged, they never think about the other side. I know the people of this town in Ohio went home furious with blogger interrupted and talking about what people said and did to defend McCain. One of them, at least one of them, is bound to reflect on what they said or what they heard- if only because they know they may be on tape. Who knows…

However, I think your point would have been illustrated far more clearly if you had been less of a dick. When someone asks not to be filmed, that does NOT mean they are saying Obama is a terrorist, that means you should stop filming them. A black man has just as much right to vote for McCain as anyone. The fact that he isn’t voting based on race is to his credit, why try and dumb down the debate with your justification for why you asked him? The thing about the willfully ignorant is that they most often WANT their voices to be heard, so my advice would be to talk to them and be respectful to those who don’t wish to speak with you.

Speaking as a GOP member, I can’t say that I’m not embarrassed by the responses of the vast majority of these people, yet this is exactly the type of bias that gives both parties bad names in the media. I know for a fact that there are more intelligent voters in my party, and I resent that this is how we’re portrayed.
How would people react if I badgered them with questions like “Why do you support killing babies?” or “Why does your party hate God?”

Just as we’ve become a society obsessed with the latest murder on the news, reality T.V. shows, and compilations of “World’s Wildest Police Videos”, we’ve turned the American political institution into the newest and best source for gaffes, bloopers, and “gotcha” sound bites that obscure any real issues.
For the record, Obama is not a terrorist, he doesn’t hate white people, and his association with Reverend White has nothing to do with how he would lead this country. Similarly, McCain is not going to drop dead in office, and his “that one” comment was blown way out of proportion.

I just attended an Obama Rally and did not hear or see any references to McCain or Palin anywhere! I just realized this. We were there only to support Obama, look to the future and discuss the issues. No hate, no fear no ill will. I felt like I was surrounded by family. Personally, I wouldn’t vote for either! Two Bush President’s and a Clinton. Two wrong’s do not make a right. Our Government has lost sight of itself and our country has too. One President with veto power, and 13 represnatives to pass laws. Think of the financial cutbacks that would do some good for our country, and can be applied to feeding the hungry or education here in the United States. The war, is religeon based, and is doing exactly what the Taliban and terrorist networks are trying to achieve. Bankrupt America; we did not need the war to put ourselves in that situation, our government and corporations are doing a good job of this all by themselves. “We the people, by the people, for the people” What have we the people done? This is a democratic society, so we do not all share the same beliefs however; we all share the same beliefs that our country was founded on. Times have changed and indeed we all need God in our lives more and more each day. The Ten Commandments, The Constitution of the United States of America, and The Bill of Rights, have all been turned into loopholes so that we can destroy our own country? The problem’s that our country and this nation are facing are not Democrat or Republican. These are American born problems and need to be taken care of in America. You as an individual have your own personal beliefs and no one can make you do something that you do not want or feel is the right thing to do. If I gave you a million dollars could I persuade you to do differently and I told you that you have to do something in return for my best interest; what would you do? Did our forefather’s establish the laws of our country in this manner? Do you think that they took pride in saying “The Pledge of Allegiance?” or singing our National Anthem? Do you cross your heart or salute? There is one God, one creator and one America. I personally vote for the Independent party, where this party has come together from both sides, Democrat and Republican to be the intermediary choice. When two kids are fighting there needs to be an adult to stabilize and resolve the conflict. No race, no color, just a decision that “We the People” need to make. What are you truly basing your decision’s on? Have you openly and honestly put the shoe on the other foot? Are both parties honestly correct in creating a change that’s best for the people? I see some bad things on the Horizon for our country. We may like it or not end up with our own troops fighting to reagain our own country on this soil, does this sound familiar? It is in our history and you know what they say “history repeats itself.” Are we the people going to continue to let this happen? Is true justice for our nation and our people going to continue to be blind? What are other countries views on America? It doesn’t matter you say; sometimes we all need to look from the outside in to regain a true sense of who we are. This is- The United States of America; but yet we split ourselves for governing the country. We the people need to look and care for our nation. This Campaign has a lot riding on it, the future of America.

I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but I think it would be more constructive if you asked a question less extreme than “Do you think Barack Obama is a terrorist?” The gotcha game played with such a polarizing question does your mission a disservice. Sure, there must be some whackos out there who believe Obama’s a terrorist, and it’s interesting to find more than a few of them in this video, but the real problem is all the people who won’t vote for Barack because of opinions far less extreme. The “I know Sarah better than I know Obama” meme is much more popular and to the point, and I think yields your most important results. Your interviews point out the obvious — that these folks have known Obama much longer, but don’t feel as comfortable with him — and almost get down to the issue at the heart of it all: Obama is black. These white folks can’t “know” a black person, any black person, the same way they know white people. They are the last old guard of American down-home racism. All their double talk about leadership and experience and identifying is code — look at their smirks — for what they don’t even dare to say to each other: We’re not gonna vote for a black man. The idiot wing of the Republican Party is the Know-Nothing Party of our time, a resurgence of the phenomenon of party based on racial / nativist identity politics. I’ll concede it might be more work to find goofballs like this at a Democratic rally, but it still isn’t clear to me what you’re trying to prove.
Are you possibly trying to suggest that the democratic (small d)process is flawed by extending the vote to the great unwashed? I propose that even if you are intellectually and morally superior to these people (which I don’t dispute), they know when they’re being insulted and they don’t like it. I’d rather have their poorly informed, ignorant votes support Obama. Hell, they’re stupid; how hard should it be to persuade them?

If Black American’s are not going to vote for a Black man, then why are the radio stations of mostly the black population calling ” all to vote on a fellow brother?” “Help a Brother get the Presidency”. There actually has been more bashing from the Democratic Party than the Republican party. Does this make either right? The more either party bashes each other makes people not want to vote, it just shows ignorance and childish behavior. Do you actually support this behavior by your candidate? I am not looking forward to the outcome, because either way; our country is in trouble if either get elected. It seems that even the comments on this blog about the video are also racist, even by the highly educated populus. The scales of justice are held in the middle. Right and Left wing, is one side or the other; does not balance out. It is time for America to get off the playground teeter totter and find the balance it so desperately needs. When was the last time an Independent candidate won the Presidency? Most have been Democrat or Repulican. They seek the balance, Republican and Democrats just want it their way. Not sure where to start. I’m really uncomfortable after watching these videos and reading the comments, but I’m not sure whether the source of the discomfort is primarily some of the rally attendees’ belligerently ignorant comments, primarily the interviewer’s pointlessly confrontational style, or primarily the comments in this thread that simply mirror the worst behavior of the people at the rally. I am certain, though, that all three made me squirm a little.
The dehumanizing of political opponents on both sides is the truly alarming aspect of this for me: it’s a pretty short trip from “they’re not like us” to “they don’t deserve the same rights as us” to far worse…
I am an Obama supporter, and politically generally just left of Dennis Kucinich, but I see human beings in these videos. People with complicated lives and unique personal histories. Some display real dignity, and some, real ugliness…but all very human. All like us.

We unite as Americans 3/4 of the time, but during that one year of elections the lines seem to become too think to bear. The vast majority of Americans can accept issues of race, religion, and ethnicity without conflict during the off years, yet lines become drawn during election years.
Its pretty sad that I (a white Christian male living in the South) can drink a beer with a black man on any given night, sit by a Muslim in a college classroom every day, without either of us feeling that we need to justify my race or religion; yet I have to defend my political beliefs and listen to comments like those in this video to fellow Americans.
It comes down to the simple fact that those wishing to advocate a point without rational basis will attempt to seek out and exploit the radical minority of any movement to which they are opposed. Not all Republicans are ignorant bigots, not all Muslims are terrorists, not all blacks are out to upset the “white man”.
Stooping so low as to advertise the views of an ignorant few as the views of the larger whole greatly damages any cause.

Actually I think the question was right on point. I’ve had to deal with otherwise decent people in my little Ohio town who swear up and down that Obama is a Muslim and is some kind of Manchurian Candidate sent out to destroy America. And no amount of reasoning or documentation can sway them.
And then last night McCain had to (finally) take away the microphone from some nutbar who was saying Obama was an “Arab.” She’s so stupid she couldn’t even get the smear right!
Nothing unfair about this at all. Simply catching right wingers in their natural habitat with all their bigotry and small mindedness on full display. Great work.

The unfortunate truth though, is no matter how much Republicans like to complain about affirmative action, being a black republican is the ULTIMATE form of affirmative action. Just look at Alan Keyes. The guy is totally off his rocker yet he keeps getting people to pay him just to show his face and he’s made a career out of running for various offices around the country. He keeps losing yet somehow they still keep throwing money at him and cheering him. Being a black republican is an easy ticket to the top.

It seems all that are reading the blog, do not read what other’s may have written. If you can not see that there is a better answer than the two majority parties, and you believe that either side is right, then we are indeed are in a world of hurt. This hurt is much worse than either party seems to see. Ok, this is actually quite simple; a nation divided. Why? What is it that all American’s want?
All I can say is look past this stupid video, and the narrow minds on both sides of this. If you can side with ether one; then when the votes are tallied and either Obama or McCain win four years to eight years later and we are in worse shape; then you only have yourselves to blame. Don’t turn around and say, well my candidate was supposed to do this but….he couldn’t do this because of the other party overuled the bill or bills regarding half sided decision. My candidate did do some good and we can overlook the bad things because he really did try. Is is really alright to make excuses? Do you like it when other’s make excuses when you apparently see different? Our nation should not be in the spolight, having a pity party or saying that nothing is wrong when there is. Writing totally correct paragraphs or punctuated sentences with the proper tense is not the important message. I am not trading or excusing one ignorance for the other. This is just a blog. However the true message of an American by birth is. I am just tired of seeing both parties screw our nation up, and screw the American public regardless of Republican or Democrat. I just want to get the voice back to the people and for the people. Be open, and look at the big picture, past Republican and Democrat. Look at this picture as just who you are; an American. I don’t think the person making the video succeeded in anything besides annoying republicans, and giving them ammo against democrats. I agree with democrats politically, but I can’t stand talking to some of them. The really bad ones are condescending and don’t really know what they are talking about. This guy asked every single person if they thought Obama was a terrorist, and only 1 person, in these two videos, said straight up “Obama’s a terrorist.” Others realized this guy was putting words in their mouth, and stopped in their tracks. I appreciate what he was trying to do, but I all he did was give republicans more reason to dismiss democrats. I started to hate this guy, and I agree with his views!

I have not viewed the video. I got so caught up in the comments that my interest in the various opinions became overwhelmingly entertaining. We have become a nation of bigots, unable or unwilling to act as Americans, not Republicans or Democrats. Unless we are willing to act within the two-party system, our vote is meaningless. I am a 24 year old female living in Vancouver B.C. Canada. I am currently at university for art and entertainment business management. At 19 I worked for Acorn as a community organizer in Portland Oregon. I am so sad to see the media bully what is a grass roots/ not for profit organization. All they do is help low income families better there community by fighting city hall on basic community needs. For example cleaning up local parks that are being used as injection sites, having stop signs put in near schools as so local traffic doesn’t hit a child. I can’t believe how blind these people are. The entire world can see how uneducated and ill informed they are. I don’t mind if your the most right winged voter, just as long as your information makes sense. Do these people actually think that the McCain/Palin government will help them… (they will suck these people dry). There entire campaign has nothing that supports the average American. People hate on Canadians, but I have to tell you the couple extra tax’s I do pay make it so I don’t even have to worry about going to the hospital if I’m sick. there are so many things covered under our medical plan. they tell you, you want private health insurance, but they didn’t tell you your gonna be broke as a joke paying it off. good luck with bailing out the economy with all the extra money they think your gonna have. I think these people are angry and are lost.
And don’t for a second think that the American election doesn’t effect Me or my fellow Canadians. I don’t want you to drill into our national territories as so you can suck the earths blood. Eco systems should be left alone, because the more you mess with nature the more it’s gonna mess with us. No ones know how bad the ramifications will be, and what problem we will have created next.

not to change a subject, but i am disturbed that during any of the three debates, there has not been one political commercial. Not one. This realy bothers me. This is un American. I plan to go to the supreme court with this matter. I am upset. they show them during soap operas and ballgames and even on the cooking channel so why not during a political debate?

i do agree that the line of questioning to the black man in the 2nd video was out of line, and improper. however, i do also get a sense that the man was feeling awkward and didnt really have a real response. i honestly do think that he must feel enormous pressure and that if he was to support obama/a black man/a terrorist (according to these people in ohio) he would probably have his house broken into, have hate crimes committed against him, and generally speaking not have any peace of mind. his life would be a living hell if he didnt just “fall in line” with the norms in that area.

Reply to Fox News: How true! This is the Superbowl of Politics!!! But if you are watching, you do not need any advertisements to get you to watch it. They put the money is advertising in the time slots and on the channels to draw voter’s away from their norm. I am pretty sure that sports and entertainment venues have higher ratings accumulative than this debate. Most Americans already feel that it doesn’t matter who we put into office; from the President down to corporate influence, the track record shows! Our country is in trouble, serious trouble. I don’t want my kids or my grandkids to pay for what our governing bodies have done in the last three decades. This is inevitable, true enough.Since our country has stretched to such a global market; what are the other countries doing to solidify the market? The same thing’s that America needs to do. Are these other countries; China, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan,Canada, The Saudi Emirates, Russia or South Korea assisting like they should to stop terrorism, or war? Are these countries concerned with putting money back into America’s economy? We have after all been soo concerned with helping all countries achieve peace. We have after all opened our country to illegal immigrants and migrant workers. What is Mexico and some of the other interested countries doing? Buying property, building businesses and companies so that they can create jobs; for who? Mexico, and Mexico’s expansion. China and these other countries have just followed suit. There is something that America will pay for how we have tried to take other countries for granted; utilizing their labor market and our corporate expansions. Lack of jobs for true Americans, lack of America to be self sufficient. We definately need to do more on our own soil. General Motors? Ford? We are killing our own country, our citizens, our job market, our economy at the cost of our soldiers lives to defend our country and a way of life that is disappearing. We can print only so much play money until it has to be backed up. We can only say our country’s economic situation is not in a recession and that we are just fine, so many times until it has to be backed up. There is only so much that our governing body can say or pass laws for the good of the people; only to do the opposite for: we the people. We give more to migrants in state funding programs, education, home, medical and jobs than we do for our own native citizens. We are not the United Countries of what was known as the United States of America; or are we? Do we actually have borders? What is N.A.F.T.A really doing? I know that it is making Mexico richer for sure. America has everything for you, just go get it, get your wealth and riches and come back home to Mexico to live a great life; or keep Mexico’s expansion going. Let’s keep giving away and selling America and our livelihoods to countries that do not share the same beliefs. In two hundred years will we actually have world peace? Will there actually be habitant’s? Or is the peace going to be from world destruction? Solidify our border’s, bring our troops home, bring our industry and corporations back home and kick out illegals. Concentrate solely on the rebuilding of America, and bring back the confidence of our people in our own country to do the right things. These are my own view’s and opinions, and are not necessarily the view’s of our majority American’s; however I have received the input from hundred’s that do agree in the direction that our country should be moving in.

I dont get it. Is this video supposed to be used for the McCain Campaign? Because most of these people handled themselves very well for being pretty annoyed. Like it or not, your obama is friends with Ayers, who was definitely a terrorist (and to date still has nto apologized or remorsed over his actions). There is no denying that. So I really dont get what youre trying to accomplish with this video.

Wow! You’ve truly shown America how wonderfully proud you are of shoving a camera in anyone’s face, asking ignorant questions, and proving nothing while at it! Brilliant! Oscar winning performance! 2 thumbs up…way up! Next time, don’t shove a camera into people’s faces. Don’t ask the same ignorant questions over and over again. Don’t assume because a person is black they should vote for Obama, and likewise, if they’re white they’d vote for McCain. And come on, attempting to humiliate a parent in front of their children…really?!? That was class act! There are better ways to show your allegiance to a political view, then this! Whether or not anyone gave a legitimate answer to your “questions” is not the point. People don’t always articulate well when thrown, (unwillingly), in the line of a buffoon with a camera! What’s with not asking permission to tape someone first, or asking questions of them politely or in a somewhat civil manner?!?!? I’d like to see how you’d react to a similar, unexpected situation! After an initial attempt, you’d be sputtering, too! What’s fascinating to me is, I’m affiliated to neither side. I was raised in a very strong republican family, but have become more liberal as I’ve grown worldly. I’ve been on the fence for most of the race, and was becoming more and more entranced by Obama. The fascination, though, comes from how much I don’t want to be associated with a group that stoops to this kind of behavior to get a rise out of people. I’m not saying democrats are the only guilty party, but I’ve yet to see videos of democrats being bombarded with silly questions and then prized online like this. You’re attempt to show republicans as ignorant, only proved yours, not theirs! You do know that neither party is perfect, and that more then likely, we’ll be in the same boat in 4 years regardless of who’s elected! Besides, it truly isn’t the president, or the government that dictates our economy and our lives! It’s We the People who do! They just make a few rules, but we run the show!

I can’t believe these people are allowed to have children. It’s like the kkk all over again. I can’t believe the hate some voters have against Obama. John McCain never should have let it get that far. So sad that they are raising their children to be hateful and hate the same. So sad. God help us if McCain wins. Seriously doubt it though.
