Peter Feldman is the McCain campaign spokesman for Pennsylvania, who spent much of last week pitching the Ashley Todd story to Pittsburgh media in the most incendiary terms possible.  In fact, he did so literally without a single fact from the Pittsburgh police…in short, he pushed the most incendiary fiction on purpose.

John McCain’s Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established — and even told reporters outright that the “B” carved into the victim’s cheek stood for “Barack,” according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

Of course, Feldman has since been lying about his role.  Because that’s all the McCain campaign does….lie.

Initial reports specifically quote the McCain campaign. And at least two sources involved in the contemporaneous reporting have come forward and said on the record that the quotes came directly from the McCain campaign. To believe that two separate local news organizations made the identical mistake with the same quotes and are now both covering it up is simply not credible. But that is what Rogers is now claiming.

The McCain campaign’s after-the-fact lie about its role in this hoax makes it essential that it provide a complete and honest account of both the local and national campaign’s role. As I said above, we did not find direct evidence of the national McCain campaign pushing this story. But Gov. Palin did call Todd after the purported attack, as did Sen. McCain. And news of these calls was provided to the press.

Like the state GOP, the McCain camp is running away from this email, and the spokesperson doing the distancing is none other than Peter Feldman. That’s the same guy who on Thursday, the day the email went out, was pushing the mugging hoax to reporters as a politically motivated attack by a black Obama supporter, playing to the worst of white fears and racial prejudices.

Speaking of the email to Jewish voters and without any apparent hint of irony, Feldman told the AP Saturday night that McCain “rejects politics that degrade our civics.” 

Here’s Feldman yucking it up with our own Mike Dewine.  Sources tell me Feldman used to work for Mike Dewine, and Dewine got him his job with McCain.

Keith Olbermann referred to what Feldman did last night on Countdown, saying Feldman’s race-baiting brought America to stand over a tinderbox and handed everyone a match.  Keith’s not afraid of hyperbole, but he was right.  Just ask Emmett Till’s mother.

With any luck, Peter Feldman will come clean and apologize for putting this campaign, and this country, on the edge of an abbyss by stoking the most incendiary racial stereotype this country has ever had to overcome.  I’m not gonna hold my breath.  Guys like Peter Feldman are the lowest form of scum humanity has ever produced.  They tend not to apologize.

Because Feldman isn’t Ashley Todd, Feldman isn’t clinically disturbed, or so bizzare as to carve a bakcward “B” into his own face.  No, Feldman is happy to use Ashley Todd, in a specifically, highly targeted, calculated way to tap into the kind of thing that got Emmett Till lynched.  That makes Feldman way worse than Ashley Todd.

Now we have his face.  Now we can see what the face of this kind of evil actually looks like.  Looks awful familiar, doesn’t it.
