Behold the face of the Republican Party

Fri, Oct 24, 2008

Media, Politics

Hey Republican readers.  Look deep into this woman’s eyes, and ask yourself if this is the party you want to be a part of.

The hoax of Ashley Todd will define John McCain’s campaign for president in 2008.  It is the sum total of his entire being, for eternity.  Ashley Todd is John McCain’s legacy.  I am Joe?  Actually, you are Ashley Todd.

You know how this went down.  Of course you do.  Ashley Todd was upset that her beloved ticket, McCain-Palin, was being tarred with the reality of their own supporters’ hate.  All anyone had to do was turn up at a McCain-Palin rally, press “record”, and the hate would be on tape.  You didn’t even have to move – you could stand still and people would come to your camera and fill it with their bile, voluntarily.

That made Ashley Todd mad.  So Ashley Todd decided to take action.  She saw Joe Wurzelbacher get famous by lying through his teeth, she saw the McCain campaign take Wurzelbacher’s tale of lies and make it the cornerstone of his campaign.  So Ashley figured it couldn’t hurt to make up some perfectly calibrated hoax herself, and then get famous herself.

Ashley Todd created her story with such perfect stupidity, it’s laughable.  The black guy was “dark skinned”, because the darker the better.  The black guy was “big”.  The black guy was angered by her McCain-Palin bumper sticker.  It was all so perfect.  So perfect she even got someone to punch her in the face to give her a black eye.

Only one problem.

Ashley Todd is stupid.

So stupid that she carved “B” onto her own face backwards, when carving “O” would have been impossible to carve backwards.  Is anyone surprised that a bigot like this is that stupid?

And thus, the right-wing haters of the blogosphere were teed up, and someone, probably the McCain campaign itself, pushed the story.  And pushed it.  And pushed it.  Unfortunately for them, like Ashley, they are also stone morons, and bought this story as gullibly as they bought Joe The Fraud.

And now Ashley Todd will meet some real black people, in jail, who know how to spell “B” in the right direction.  My guess is that they will teach Ashley all about a lot of things.

John McCain lapped this story up like a dog in the dessert finding a puddle of urine.  He called Ashley Todd to ask if she was ok.  Sarah Palin called Ashley Todd to see if she was ok.  As sure as the sun coming up tomorrow, they were ready to take her, just like Joe Wurzelbacher, and spin some flimsy tissue of lies around her, too.  And they were ready to go all Tawana Brawley on the entire country.  Because they, too, needed to have their own “hateful supporters” story.

Now, John McCain will forever be tied to the hate and bigotry his campaign has quite purposely and calculatedly unleashed.  That’s a real shame, because once, John McCain was a great American.  But great Americans do not enable the likes of Ashley Todd.  They do not create an environment in which someone thinks it perfectly reasonable to have someone punch them in their own face, and carve backwards letters into their own cheek, and then blame a big ugly Negro for it.

Someday, John McCain will be alone with his conscience, and he will be forced to come to terms with what he has wrought.  I’m quite certain that won’t happen soon.  But if John McCain has a soul, he will understand his role in the mere existence of Ashley Todd’s hoax.  It is John McCain’s creation, his campaign’s only reason for being anymore.

John isn’t Joe.  He created Joe.  As surely as he created Ashley Todd.

I’m tired of hearing about John McCain being a “great American,” now or ever. It’s just another fable put together by the guardians of “the middle” to preserve the system. John McCain is a fraud and a tool. Always has been.

Otherwise I couldn’t agree more with your post, Tim. :P

She didn’t even have a real black eye – it was makeup. And not the good Sarah Palin $25000 makeup, but bad makeup. The kind that smudges and washes off for your court appearance.
If what she did wasn’t so Reconstruction-era revolting, I’d feel sorry for the kid.
