NBC, ABC coverage of Bush speech to convention HYSTERICAL

Media, Politics

By total chance, I was at Jeanette’s in Tremont gearing up to watch the Season 2 DVD of Heroes, and she turned on the NBC feed of the Bush speech to the convention.  What followed may have been THE FUNNIEST SPEECH I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Last night I watched President Bush address the RNC via satellite. The speech was carried live on cable and PBS, but not on the broadcast networks. Then at 10:00, when the networks cut to the Convention, they re-broadcast the Bush speech.

CBS played a recording that included the Convention applause, delegate cheers, etc. But NBC and ABC replayed the satellite feed only, without any Convention crowd response. Guess what. Silent pauses for applause after rousing comments or humorous lines sure look awkward and silly.

I was furiously dialing friends to tell them to turn on NBC.  I had no idea this also happened on ABC.  Someone needs to help me find video of this.
