National Enquirer – Track Palin a “full-on OxyContin addict”

Wed, Sep 10, 2008

Media, Politics

So hot.

And honestly, everyone: the Enquirer does not represent the media elite. So the liberal media should be safely insulated from the backlash on this one. The best quotes from the Enquirer’s story:

    * “Before joining the Army last September, Track partied all the time. I saw him do so many keg stands, and all he ever talked about was getting stoned.”

    * “Track was a master at playing people and paying them to get drugs, alcohol, steal car rims, Xbox games, you name it.”

    * “All the girls loved Track, but he was more into drugs and himself. He used his local celebrity status with the other guys to get them to steal things he wanted.”

    * “I’ve partied with Track for years. I’ve seen him snort cocaine, snort and smoke OxyContin, drink booze and smoke weed. OxyContin was definitely his drug of choice.”

    * Track was a full-on OxyContin addict in 2006 and 2007, the Enquirer says, and was mainlining the drug. Which is very bad.

    * “I’ve smoked weed with Track many times. He was one of two kids in school that had a fake ID.”

Yay.

What happened to Barack Obama’s plea that candidate’s kids are off limits? You can’t control what the Enquirer does, but you can control yourself.

Why is this relevant? Why do we need to know this? What relevance does it have to the election?

As someone who agreed that Matt Naugle crossed the line in attacking Jennifer Brunner over her son’s Facebook page and its references to drug use, how can I NOT also condemn this?

How is this any different that what Naugle did? BTW, as far as the story reports, it sounds like the kid is trying to get his life together by going into the military. Should I hold that against his mom? Aren’t people allowed to be screw ups and rehabilitate themselves?

“All the girls loved Track, but he was more into drugs and himself”?

    Holy crap! Is Track gay?!

  3. J-Dog Says:

    Modern:

It abso-freakin-lutely has to be discussed. When someone lies and builds themselves up to be so perfect, is judgmental and holier than thou, they have it coming.

And, outside of Russo using the terms, “So Hot” and “Yay”, what did he really do? I’ll bet you a dollar or a doughnut that even Larry King or Anderson Cooper will bring this up. Asshat Hannity will definitely bring it up.

    Peace,

    J-Dog

  4. Schmennis Says:

Good call Modern! This is a wasted story for the wasted votes of people that don’t know the issues, and only read headlines standing in line at the grocery store waiting to use food stamps to buy pop & chips. People that believe the National Enquirer shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

We should just move voting to the internet and allow “vote as many times as you like”, pay-per-click American Idol style.
    Ryan Seacrest could host.

    J-Dog-

Barack Obama has publicly said that candidates’ kids should be off limits, which is hardly novel as it’s been a standard rule of engagement in politics forever.

I disagree that any of this is relevant to the issues of this election.

Furthermore, as someone who believes people can make a mistake and should be allowed to get on with their lives, I think this is equally poor.

This isn’t the same thing as John Edwards by a longshot, and even the public interest in that was less than stellar.

Tim, as a Barack supporter, don’t you think you should explain why your promoting stories our candidate has declared should not be part of the political discourse in this campaign? I’d really like to hear your response on this.

  6. Beltway Greg Says:

I wonder if she told John about this during the vetting process? No doubt, yes and he was thrilled. It made them seem even more real when you throw in the pregnancy thing and all of the other bonus material you’re getting with Season #1 of the Palins. Makes the Osbournes look positively sedate. Fox would blow a gasket to get something like this on a Democratic candidate and they would run it for days. Time for this one to go John.

  7. Richard Says:

The random doings wouldn’t necessarily reflect a parents fitness for parenthood or public office, but the developing story is that of a family gone completely out of control. That Sarah cannot managbe her children suggest that she cannot manage the USA. More to theh point, and I have yet to hear anything about this, did Palin use her political power/contacts to cover Track’s juvenile exuberences. Why was he shipped off to Minnessotta to finish his senior year in high school?

  8. Kat Hak Sung Says:

GOP appeal public by a circus show (9/4/08)

Republican are so desperate like a drawn man to hold anything – even a straw. They beat the drum on a V.P. selection, try to appeal more sights from public and make it more or less like a circus show or a beauty pageant. It seems not a president campaign but a V.P. campaign for GOP. When the clawn is too old they push out a bikini woman to sell the ticket.

GOP will win if moose votes.

  9. stupidcontard Says:

How does this have ANYTHING to do with Barack Obama?

This is from the National Enquirer! They had boots on the ground, probably before McSame ever decided on her, that’s what they do, and they’ve only ever been sued successfully ONCE.

The Enquirer doesn’t give ANYBODY a break, and if they found out a thing about Obama, they would be all over that too.

So don’t go acting like Obama has done anything out of line with regards to this crap. The Enquirer finds out what people want to know, and you all know you want to know what kind of wacked out people these are. I mean who WOULDN’T want to know about the possible Vice President’s crazy family, or her crazy religious beliefs, as I recall, that’s all you could talk about when it came out that Obama had an outspoken preacher.

McCain never even sent a team to investigate this person. The Wasilla newspaper office said the Obama team were the first people to ask to look at the newspaper archives. They were there the day after the announcement, and the contards were actually calling them the Obama Airborne. A crack team of lawyers and investigators showed up and started digging. McCain finally decided to send in a team this week. Shows what kind of strategist this guy is, to go into battle ill prepared and not even find out what kind of record she has before choosing her for Vice President of the United States!

The kind of “leader” that gets men killed in my opinion.

Here is some of what the Obama team DID find out.

Frontiersman Editorial Said Palin Made Statements That Were “Patently Untrue,” Said She Had Shown “Unrepentant Backpedaling and Incessant Whining.” A Frontiersman editorial wrote, “Wasilla residents have been subjected to attempts to unlawfully appoint council members, statements that have been shown to be patently untrue, unrepentant backpedaling, and incessant whining that her only enemies are the press and a few disgruntled supporters of former Mayor John Stein.” [Frontiersman editorial, 2/7/97]

Frontiersman Editorial: Palin Doesn’t Grasp the Truth. A Frontiersman editorial wrote, “Mayor Palin fails to have a firm grasp of something very simple: the truth.” [Frontiersman editorial, 2/7/97]

  10. Melissa Says:

    AMERICA PLEASE WAKE UP!!!

I am a registered Republican, at first I had decided to vote for John McCain, but later changed my mind. When it came to my knowledge that he abandoned what he originally stood for and over the years adopted the Bush hard line. It’s understood that he wanted to prove to the Republican base he was one of them and not the maverick they disliked, which proves his inefficiency to stand up to the Republican Party.

On separate occasions the McCain’s stated that they were not going to run a nasty campaign, which they contradicted by providing us with dishonest commercials, campaign speeches, and interviews. They denied to the press of having carried out such a campaign. They said whatever they stated regarding themselves and Barack Obama is a fact. Several times John McCain stated that if Barack Obama had done what he had suggested then he could have run a more civil campaign. This sounds like imposition to me. Doesn’t he realize that we can see through this excuse?

When people in general raised questions regarding John McCain’s age he assures them of having an experienced Vice Presidential candidate, in case something happens to him. Hence he decided the best person for this position would be Sarah Palin. This leaves the country in dismay as she has limited political experience.

However, she was introduced at the Republican convention as a maverick, a reformer, who did not take earmarks, nor support the bridge to nowhere, and who never indulges in wasteful spending. Besides she was declared as an expert on the economy, well versed in foreign affairs, and having more experience than Joe Biden and Barack Obama put together.

Recently in an interview on Sarah Palin, Charles Gibson (reporter for CBS) proved the claims about her to be false. She is a devout Christian, but she refuses to tell the truth, and when Charles Gibson asked her to revise her blatant lies she refused too. Isn’t this violating the laws of Christianity? Thus it seems she is willing to compromise her religious faith to be the next VP of the United States of America.

She has extreme beliefs and views on many subjects like the Iraq war (she thinks this war is God’s will), abortion (she does not believe in it even in circumstances of incest and rape and if she gets a chance she will overturn Roe V. Wade), views on hunting (she allows people to shoot animals from planes), taking protection way (wants to take polar bears off the endangered species list). Besides she attends a church that believes in getting rid of homosexuality through prayer and that Jews have been persecuted for their refusal to believe in Jesus. She is currently under investigation for a possible abuse of her power as Governor of Alaska. Lastly, she feels global warming is a natural phenomenon and there is no evidence that it is man-made.

As for my belief on the abortion issue I do not believe in abortion for myself as a choice, however, I do believe it should be a woman’s choice and not the federal or state government’s. God did give humans free will to make their own decisions and as a result we are responsible for all of them. God will be the final judge of all our sins and all sins are created equal in God’s eyes. So, does anybody feel Sarah Palin somehow forgot this?

After being disappointed in John McCain and how he has chosen to run his campaign; I decided to start watching the Democratic campaign speeches and realized Obama is at least talking about the issues like the economy, job loss, health care and education. McCain spends the majority of his time distorting Obama’s record and lying about his proposed ideas for this country. You would think McCain would spend his time talking about what he is going to do for this country. Well the most ironic thing McCain has done is now he is talking about being the change candidate. Does anybody think it’s strange that for the last 18 months or so McCain never mentioned being the change candidate? As I remembered, McCain was running a campaign for the last 18 months or so on experience.

On September the 15th the stock market fell more than 500 points, then Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy; job losses is still at a record high and gasoline prices are on a rise again. On this same day, McCain at a campaign rally made the following statement “he thinks the economy is fundamentally strong”. Does anybody really think McCain is in touch with what’s going on in this economy? Well, McCain shame on you.

I am disappointed in the way John McCain and Sarah Palin is running their campaign.

She is a devout Christian, but she refuses to tell the truth about her record on taking earmarks and supporting the bridge to nowhere. Besides she was declared as an expert on the economy, well versed in foreign affairs, and having more experience than Joe Biden and Barack Obama put together. Does anyone feel telling lies are a violation of the laws of Christianity? What I find amazing is once her record was fact checked and proven not to be true she refused to revise it. Do you religious born-again Christians and longtime Christians find this behavior a contradiction to your faith. I thought that all sins are created equal in God’s eyes. I realize that we are all not perfect beings; however, she knows she is telling lies, so there is no excuse to continue. Thus it seems she is willing to compromise her religious faith to be the next VP of the United States of America.

In the last several days at Sarha Palin’s campaign speeches, she has made statement such as “who is the real Barack Obama”. She is trying the link the former terrorist William Ayers to him. These suggestions are only causing the fringe people in the audience to shout out very dangerous statements directed at Obama, such as “kill him”, “off with his head”, “terrorist”. She wont even make any effort to tell these people this kind of behavior is unacceptable. What I see is she just continues which encourages this behavior. My concern is that maybe one of these people might hurt or kill Obama or somebody else. We should not stir up any racial hatred into this presidential campaign. I’m not saying that she is responsible for the crazies, but when they make these statements Palin should immediately denounce them. Well, I feel its one thing to want to win and another to win at any cost. She is supposed to be a devout Christian with strong Christian values, so why is she unwilling to speak out immediately when these people say such hateful things against another person.

How do we as Christians bring people to Christianity while supporting so openly a woman who is not displaying true Christian principles. As Christian women we should put party politics aside and stand by our Christian values. Christianity is more important than political posturing. We should be thinking about what God would be saying and stop overlooking what has been going on with their campaign.

At least if you want to vote for them that’s fine, but I think we should be careful praising her as this highly moral Christian woman. We don’t want to make people feel this kind of behavior is acceptable in Christianity.

Sarah Palin and John McCain and both of their spouses have had relationships with questionable characters, anti-American sympathizers, people who have been associated with taking money from Freddie Mac. So they do not have a clean record on the same issues as well as similar issues.

There is a reason why people call us Christian’s hypocrites and refuse to go to church. It is very hard to bring people to Christ when we Christians spend our time openly proving to people that there is no difference between a Christian’s behavior and nonbelievers.

  12. Richard Says:

One thing that we know with a higher degree of certainty, now, is that Palin indeed abused her power in the way she pressured the State of Alska Safety Commisioner to fire Palin’s ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Wooten.

If she lied about the reasons she terminated Alaska’s top cop, you have to wonder what else she lied about. I am not so concerned with the claims she made against her brother-in-law. Those sort of lies and half-truths often are part and parcel of a nasty child custody case.

I am more concerned about Palin’s relationship with the radical right wing members of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party. Palin claims never to have been a member and recors show that she has always been a registered Republican. However, Todd Palin was a member of the AIP, Palin has attended and spoken at AIP conventions, she was supported by the AIP in her run for Mayor of Wailla by the AIP, and as mayor she tried to appoint an AIP member to fill her place on the Wasilla City Council.

I find that and the fact that the AIP supported Palin’s campaig for Governor to be very troubling, especially given its plan of infiltrating the Democratic and Republican parties with like minded radical candidates for office.

I am very concerned that the John McCain chose someone, who JFK Jr. recently described as a fellow traveler of the American Independence Party, as his running mate. The main plank of the AIP is that Alaska should seceed from the Union!
