Sad day for Cleveland politics, with the passing of Stephanie Tubbs Jones.  She was a wonderful person.  

Anyone wanna run for Congress?

I don’t really know what the process is for replacing Stephanie, other than a special election.  The timing will be crucial.  Holding the primary on November 4 would be great for Barack, turnout is already expected to be through the roof, a primary for OH-11 on the same day would blow it out of the water.

Whatever the process, expect every black elected official in Cleveland to run, and every white elected official in OH-11 to bet that the black vote splits enough for them to sneak in.  I’m gonna put the over/under on candidates in the primary at, oh, let’s say 10.  And with the Cuyahoga Democratic Party in utter meltdown right now, more clusterfuck-ed-ness.  Add in Lance Mason accepting a judicial appointment, Peter Lawson Jones up for re-election to county commissioner, and you’ll have a treasure trove of down ballot fun.

Hell, why don’t I run?  Test that Russo name to its limits!
