Proof that the Plain Dealer’s new publisher, Terrence C. Z. Egger, is a complete wingnut, is screaming from today’s PD front page.

Above the fold, on today’s front page of the Plain Dealer, which features a Hillary tribute to Stephanie Tubbs Jones which appears designed to use Stephanie’s death to sew the “disunity” message on the eve of the Democratic Convention, the PD quotes the wingnut front group, Buckeye Institute to argue that it costs too much to hold an election to replace Stephanie.

“It’s a real question whether the state should be on the hook for that large an expenditure for someone who is going to be in office for such a short period of time,” said Michael Maurer, of the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions, a conservative think tank.

The Buckeye Institute is nothing but a front group for insane wingnuts.  Their comm director, Carlo Loparo, was Ken Blackwell’s bitch.  It was created to give jobs to Blackwell’s goons.  They are one of the few advertisers on the most unhinged right wing nutbag blog in Ohio, Matt Naugle’s, who himself was a Blackwell goon.  The Buckeye Institute has precisely ZERO credibility.

Unless they call the PD and want to get on the front page above the fold, apparently.  There is literally not one justifiable reason to seek comment on the cost of the OH-11 special election from the Buckeye Institute.  None.  There are plenty of good government watchdogs that weren’t created yesterday that could do the same, with greater credibility, and greater impact.  But no…it’s Ken Blackwell’s wingnuts who the PD turn to.

Folks, this has been a nagging suspicion of mine for some time, namely, that the PD under new publisher Terrence C. Z. Egger, is lurching hard to the right.  The way they treated another wingnut yesterday, and now this, kinda proves it.  

Either Egger, and his editor Susan Goldberg, are ignorant wingnuts, or they are totally in the tank for the wingnuts.  My bet is on Egger being a wingnut.  

And the PD, the largest newspaper in Ohio, is at his whim.
