Why won’t MSM obits call Helms a Jim Crow bigot?

To read MSM obituaries of Jesse Helms, you’d think the man was Andy Griffith from Mayberry.  Loved America, blah blah, staunch conservative, blah blah, forceful voice, blah blah.  The worst that most of the MSM obituaries can bring themselves to say about Helms was that he was “controversial”, or “loved as much as reviled.”   Wonkette summed it up pretty well

JESSE HELMS: AMERICAN GARBAGE Read your editor’s obituary for Jesse Helms, and let’s all laugh together.

The fact is, Jesse Helms was one of the most hateful bigots in America.  Period.  And he was the worst kind, the kind that gets power and uses it to force his bigotry down the throats of the rest of our country.  He was basically Jim Crow in a suit.  And EVERYONE KNOWS IT.  They knew it at the time, and they know it now.

So why is it that the MSM can’t bring itself to say this?  It’s as if editors are living in a different universe, which of course is the case on just about everything MSM editors deign to cover.  But in such a blatant case of calling the blue sky green, we simply must ask why.  How is it possible?

I tend to agree with this assessment, although on another matter, of how the MSM’s DNA has become that of the Republican establishment.

My only theory is that the Republicans have held the executive for so much of the post 40 years that the Washington Establishment is almost indistinguishable from the Republican Establishment. They’re practically one and the same, and its members protect their own.

The GOP right wing narrative has taken hold so deeply that it becomes possible for a known Jim Crow bigot to suddenly become “impish”, “courtly”, “gentlemanly”,….the words in some of these stories are so utterly laughable you simply must laugh or you’d cry.

And also thus, it becomes completely unfathomable that anyone in the MSM would actually report the truth of yesterday’s news - that a throwback vestige of Jim Crow bigotry died on July 4th, while a black man was ascending to the presidency of the United States.  Of America.

That’s the story.  And I’m not shocked in the least that the MSM obituaries can’t, or won’t, report it.
