Scott Piepho and Meet The Bloggers
Thu, Jul 24, 2008
I was gonna let this go. I really was. I had my say on Scott Piepho’s absurd and totally disingenous lament over the end of Meet The Bloggers (MTB) and how this saddened him so. I figured Scott would at least admit that his version of the facts of MTB’s demise was at least colored by factors which he failed to note in his post.
But no. Scott decided to take cheap shots, which is fine. And then Scott’s blog became the latest home for Russo pile-on fun, from the obvious, and always the same, usual suspects, racist John Ettorre (Google his name - see what comes up after his own blog), Paul Ackerman, and of course, OF COURSE, the anonymous smearers. So I’m gonna have to correct the record, on my own blog, with facts.
Scott Piepho became involved in MTB early, on the sniff of potential money. Pure and simple. The amounts, as tiny as they can be in blogland, were immaterial. In fact, he was one of the first to jump at the notion of an MTB Ad Network. His email reply of April 7, 2006, literally 8 minutes after I sent out the idea.
Wow, making money from my blog? Is that even legal?
Yes, I’m interested. I was just thinking this week about looking at Google Ads just for grins.
Right now I get about 150 hits a day. I was averaging over 200 for a month before I got sick and went dark. It’s slowly climbing back up. (I trust you will hold that information close to your vest.)
Thanks for working on this. If you think of any way I can help, let me know.

This was after Scott had been one of the first to pile on the “hate on Russo” bandwagon at Bill Callahan’s blog in February, months previous. The sniff of money has a funny way of overcoming moral objection. The comment is no longer at Bill’s blog, but here’s my email to Scott in response.
scott,
i really don’t appreciate your comment at bill’s blog, especially for someone who has decided to involve himself in Meet The Bloggers. i’m forwarding you the emails i sent out when this hit the fan, as it occurs to me you weren’t on the original list. i hope you will be fairer on this issue in light of this info.
Scott was less than fair in response, despite involving himself in a venture I had created. Most of his response to my February 22, 2006 email was standard “Russo is a sick fuck” boilerplate, but of course, money ended the conversation, because for Scott, that’s where it began in the first place.
Your mention of MTB did raise a question in my mind. Have you thought out what it means to a candidate to have sat down to MTB knowing your criminal history?
Which is funny, because on February 23, 2006, while Scott was pissing all over me at Bill Callahan’s blog and in my own inbox, he was still involved in MTB, deeply enough to email the following to George Nemeth.
On Feb 23, 2006, at 3:45 PM, Scott Piepho wrote:

I regret needing to ask this, but the Betty Sutton campaign wants to know if Tim Russo is planning on coming down Saturday.

A blog for Summit County and beyond. Pho’s Akron Pages.
So after Scott decided that my involvement in MTB was so problematic for him that he needed to ask if I was going to be involved in an interview, Scott stayed involved in MTB, for months, to the point that he was on the 8 minute trigger finger when ads got brought up months later. And oh, MAN, was Scott on top of it. He REALLY wanted that ad code to work. REALLY. May 1, 2006, after Scott had pissed all over Russo in public, and 3 months after Betty Sutton moved him to concern - one email of MANY such emails.
The code you sent is not working. I suspect that MSN’s filter is fucking it up somehow. When I open the document, I get a browser window with nothing in it.
Two years later, when I hear that Scott Piepho is citing MTB’s demise as why he’s so sad about Ohio’s blogosphere, here’s what I think.
MTB is dead because I am out of it. It’s value was created by me. It’s traction was created by me. I have hundreds, literally hundreds of emails documenting it. The only people of any consequence statewide to sit down with MTB were brought to the table by me, with the exception of Jim Petro, who apparently had coffee with the Ferris’ once or twice. When I got bounced, so did MTB’s value as a financial venture. That is simply a fact.
Now, you’ll ask yourself, why care? Trust me, the yawns in the blogosphere in Ohio whenever Russo gets fucked in the ass are heard loud and clear on this end. You all may think you are tired of this drama, and I know you are.
Imagine how tired of it I am. Imagine if 7 years of your life were frozen by the worst mistake you ever made, and in that time, no matter how hard you tried to overcome it, you failed. And you failed not because of your lack of effort, but because pukes like Paul Ackerman and John Ettorre found it acceptable and welcomed discourse to call you names, and parasites like Scott Piepho decided they could steal every micrograin of value from your life and claim it as their own. Imagine how tired you’d be of that, after 7 years.
So petty is the voracious parasitic instinct in these people, that not even the mere notion of credit for a good thing done is too minor to steal for themselves. No matter that it is that last thing another human being has to his own….fuck him. He’s a sicko. I’ll take that, thank you.
I don’t know what I have to do to regain a little dignity in my own life. But one thing that feels useful is to call out the parasites when they try to take another little nibble at the carcass that is my life. It’s really all I have left.
So I plan to use it. George Nemeth is damn lucky that the Free Times found a bigger fish to fry in Tim Ryan than his ass. So listen up. The next person that decides to rewrite the history of one of my most valued contributions to the world around me, their emails are public property in a matter of minutes. Be warned.
