Much bigger than a couple of home improvement projects
Tue, Jul 29, 2008
Reading the PD coverage today, the FBI and IRS raids yesterday appear to be all about some home improvements at Jimmy Dimora’s house, Frank Russo’s house, Kevin Kelly’s house, etc.
Um…..what!?!?!
As ridiculous as both Jimmy’s and Frank’s homes are (we do pay our public servants well, don’t we) Jim Traficant, former congressman for OH-17, went down for the same thing. A couple home improvement projects gone sour. Traficant is currently doing 8 years in federal prison.
In Traficant’s case, there was never a 200-plus agent raid, with the entire Northeast Ohio criminal division of the IRS, bringing agents from Pittsburgh, Toledo, and all over the region, at multiple locations on the same day. With U-Hauls.
This is WAY bigger than a swimming pool and a statue. I’m hearing, from multiple sources, that this raid is the tip of a massive iceberg. The use of U-Haul trucks to collect evidence should tell any observer that whatever corrupt deal Jimmy or Frankie got on their home improvement projects is small potatoes.
In addition, I have no sourcing on this, but my gut tells me that Pat O’Malley is the key here. He had his nuts in a set of pliers, and he sang like a bird. No one in Cuyahoga County Democratic politics has more to sing about than O’Malley. And that leads me to my other gut instinct.
Bill Mason is next.

You really haven’t lived until you’re served with a federal warrant.
