Kos just ain’t all that anymore

So Kos gets ignored during the primary, gets on board late, after it’s obvious Barack is gonna win, then decides he is the one with the leverage.
Obama will be fine without my contribution, and he may even still get it before this thing is said and done, but it would be at a time when he has done something positive. That’s called rewarding good behavior.
No, it’s called being a whiner. But it gets better.
Chances are good that the DNC would get the money instead. But at this time, I simply have no desire to reward bad behavior.
Told ya it got better.
But when the Obama campaign makes those calculations, they have to realize that they’re going to necessarily lose some intensity of support. It’s not all upside. And for me, that is reflected in a lack of interest in making that contribution.
Oooh, that hurts!
Others will happily pick up the slack.
Sounds like a free-rider to me!
And if for some crazy hard-to-see reason my money actually is important to the Obama campaign, then they can adjust their behavior to get it.
Kos has never been real subtle about his little shakedown racket, but this one is probably the most laughable tantrum I’ve seen him do yet. It’s because this time, he really is irrelevant.
True, Barack Obama doesn’t need Kos, or his money, but don’t kid yourself into thinking Kos just accepted that from day one. Not on your life. And Barack just ignored him, raising every penny of his online money without Kos’ help. And Kos is still pissed off about it. As are his ilk in the “netroots”.
And it matters not one iota to Barack Obama. And that’s fantastic.

The same structure I complained about yesterday, that the 24 hour news cycle makes surrogates out of any old fool, also creates pundits out of any old fool, and Kos is first in line.
For all his people powered dreaminess, he’s a cog in the same media structure, just not bright enough to realize it.

Well, Kos was instrumental in raising all that money for John Edwards who…. oh, nevermind…
