Gramm calls Americans “nation of whiners”, recession is “mental”

Politics

This is just precious.  All these people calling Barack Obama elitist, like Phil Gramm, who sits on UBS’s board, lobbied for the bad regulations that gave us the foreclosure crisis, who is likely a major architect of the current recession, and is certainly a major architect of John McCain’s economic platform, certainly aren’t elitist themselves.  Not even when he now says this.

“You’ve heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession,” he said, noting that growth has held up at about 1 percent despite all the publicity over losing jobs to India, China, illegal immigration, housing and credit problems and record oil prices. “We may have a recession; we haven’t had one yet.”

“We have sort of become a nation of whiners,” he said. “You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline” despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy, he said.

The Dickensian nature of America today often staggers me, but this one is like David Copperfield, Martin Chuzzlewit, Bleak House, Hard Times, Oliver Twist, all rolled into one.  Phil Gramm is the fattest of the fat cats.  He sits on the board of Swiss bank UBS, and lobbied for UBS until April, often to get the kind of regulations that brought on the subprime meltdown.  He is up to his ears in Enron.  He has been the architect of the entire McCain economic platform.

Phil Gramm is a corpulent parasite whose cheeks are bloated and oozing with the blood of average Americans’ livelihoods dripping from between his golden teeth while he wipes his ass with their mortgage papers.  He is the most vile living caricature of every 19th century Gilded Age robber baron you can imagine.  Except it’s the 21st century, and Phil Gramm is given the pulpit of John McCain’s ambition to make it that much worse.

Phil Gramm isn’t just THE major player in McCain’s economic team, he isn’t just a fat cat so fat he can’t even imagine why these comments are offensive.  Phil Gramm is EXHIBIT A in the moral bankruptcy that Republican hegemony over America has conceived, birthed, coddled, nutured, and brought to putrid full bloom.  This year may be the year that Americans finally realize that Republicans are not interested in America, they are interested in their own power and privelege, first, always, and last.  Let’s hope to God that this is the year.

And oh yeah…Phil Gramm can kiss my ass.  While he watches the endless rolling of his Dickensian comments on television for the next four months that help make Barack Obama’s mandate ever larger.  Thanks, you fat puke.

Senator Gramm, come here to Republican Knox County Ohio and see the foreclosed homes on every street, the cars sitting in yards for sale, and people living on next to nothing.

  2. J-Dog Says:

Gramm was really trying to say “menstrual,” but McCain wouldn’t let him…
