Connie Schultz’ writes about the New Yorker cover today, and there are some real gems.  First…

 ”I’m voting for Obama,” she told the judge’s wife, who responded with disgust: “Barack Obama is the anti-Christ.”

“You don’t really think that,” the woman said.

Oh, yes, she did. Nodding her head, she added, “You can read all about it in the Bible. In Revelation.”

Keep in mind, this is one half of a prominent political couple in a county where they know virtually everybody. Imagine how many people she might run into on any given day. 

Sounds like Joy Atwood!  At least Joy stood by it, but Connie protects an elected judge’s wife’s identity while repeating word for word the the judge’s wife’s smear.  Which is why this jumped out at me.

 Nearly every day I get e-mails insisting that Obama is a Muslim. The anonymous, mailed letters are increasing, too, and so are the phone calls. Last Thursday I failed to convince a woman caller that Obama really is a U.S. citizen, and, no, the immigration department has not ruled otherwise.

She called me a liar and hung up. 

If Connie is getting these emails, now on paper in the post, and in phone calls, why is there no reporting on it?  Why is Connie quoting these people anonymously?  A judge’s WIFE?  How on earth is someone permitted to spread this lunacy, let alone an elected judge’s wife, through Connie’s column, without being named?  

I’ll tell you how.  Connie was, and may still be, on the Holy Hillary bandwagon.  These smears not only helped her candidate, they helped her candidate win Ohio.  I’d be shocked if Connie wasn’t getting these smears during the primary, before Ohio’s primary on March 4.  But there they sat, quietly and anonymously in her inbox, doing their dirty work.  Now that the New Yorker has done for these smears what Borat does for anti-semitism, i.e., lampoon it as the utter insanity that it is, Connie is shocked.

Yeah, right.  I’m sure Connie was equally shocked prior to March 4, so shocked that she kept her mouth shut about it so these same people could rely on their ignorance to justify their support for the non-black-guy.  Hey Connie - why don’t you put that Pulitzer to use and do some journalism for once.  Wouldn’t it be nice if the PD were the first newspaper in the country to investigate this, instead of acting like a Kazakh journalist covering the Running of The Jew?
