Cuyahoga County offices and staff raided by 200 FBI agents

Wow.
The FBI served search warrants this morning at the Cuyahoga County administration building, the data center and the county engineer’s office.
Warrants also were served at the homes of County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and County Auditor Frank Russo, sources said. More than 10 warrants were served as part of a public corruption investigation.
FBI cars were parked all around the county administration building as the searches began. A team of at least eight agents cordoned off employees on the third and fourth floors and had them fill out forms indicating their name, date of birth, address, social security number, department and duty.
Those employees were then sent home.
Sources said businesses and residences were searched in the county as well. At least nine cars were spotted at Commissioner Jimmy Dimora’s house.
I wonder if this is Pat O’Malley related. UPDATE!
As many as 200 agents from the IRS and FBI, including the entire Northeast Ohio IRS criminal unit, are involved in executing search warrants as part of an investigation of corruption in Cuyahoga County government.
Agents from Pittsburgh have been brought in to help with the searches.

The FBI and IRS-CID were at my office this morning. They brought us all into the lunch room, told us that we couldn’t do anything on our computers or make any phone calls. About a half hour later we’d all signed some sheets with basic information, and been sent home for the day. The Feds were efficient and professional.
