Clearly justifying 24/7 netroots obsession for months, FISA passes 69-28
In yet another instance of the “leaders” of the lefty “netroots” clogging up the blogosphere with endless ranting over their latest obsession, which not one other person gives a shit about, FISA legislation passed overwhelmingly, over the slippery-slope ridden hysteria of Kossack nation. With YEA votes from such netroots darlings as Jim Webb, Diane Feinstein, Claire McCaskill, and yes, Barack Obama.
The last time I completely stopped reading the big box blogs was during the Ned Lamont fever, at which time it was literally impossible to read some blogs, because all they ever wrote about was the CT senate race. And what did that get us? An embittered and clearly now insane Joe Lieberman who gives John McCain his ONE Democrat to trot out every chance McCain gets.
This time, the defeat of the netroots overkill is actually enuring to our benefit, because Barack Obama told them he’d vote YEA, explained it, engaged the blogosphere in a debate, and when Kos said he wouldn’t give Obama his $2,300 in response, Kos’ readers tripled that in donations in a matter of hours. Plus, the media is filled with “Obama pisses off the left” narrative. All good.
As for the 4th amendment? Whatever slippery slope the netroots are now mourning the nation slipping down, wake up dummies. The slippery slope is this election. We lose, forget about FISA, it’ll look like a minor irritant compared to a third Bush term with John McCain.
So now that I’ve said “I told you so” FOR THE SEVENTEEN THOUSANDTH TIME, can we please get on with electing Barack Obama president? Can you imagine the money raised for Obama if every stupid, futile, holier than thou FISA post were instead a fundraising pitch for Barack? Can you imagine the damage to John McCain if every FISA post were a McCain smackdown?
It’s safe to wander into netroots nation again without fear of having the letters F-I-S-A burned into your retina and the screen on your computer. Now get on with it, already.

“…can we please get on with electing Barack Obama president?”
Sure, go ahead. Just don’t expect me to join you. I had intended to give $100 to Obama’s campaign, and volunteer about 3 to 4 hours per week for him this fall, but not anymore. I won’t forgive Obama’s FISA betrayal. The $100 I had intended to give to the Obama campaign, along with the contributions I would have made to the DNC, DCCC, and DSCC, will instead go to the ACLU, the Accountability Now PAC, and probably the Warren Village Liquor Store.
Don’t worry. I’ll still vote for Obama, as he’s a lesser evil than McCain. I just hope I’m not so drunk that I fill in the wrong oval.
