Interesting email from YouTube.

Interesting.  

I am in the video in question, on every level.  I appear in it, repeatedly.  I shot some of the video in question.  I wrote much of it.  I directed some of it.  I produced and edited much of it.  I created the concept.  I funded much of it.  Parts of it were edited under my own roof, by my own hand.  Under no circumstance does The Firefactory Ltd. have exclusive rights over the Original Tim Ryan 2002 Documentary Trailer to the extent that they can have it removed from YouTube.

But that’s not relevant.  I know the people at The Fire Factory.  They are my friends…at least I think so. Especially Jake, whose email account now bounces back my email.  (UPDATE:  Connection re-established.)  They want video they worked on to reach as wide an audience as possible.  In fact, the same guy who shot the video in question shot another video which remains on YouTube, with me, under the same friendship, using the same cooperative model, which, if copyright were the issue, would also be removed from YouTube.

The only reason on earth that they would have the Original Tim Ryan 2002 Documentary Trailer pulled from YouTube is due to pressure from Tim Ryan.  [UPDATEx2 - Jake at The Fire Factory tells me he has not heard from Tim Ryan since 2005, and that his firm had YouTube pull it because I didn't ask for permission to post it.  I've told him I don't need permission, because it's my film, and I've asked him to contact YouTube and have it re-posted.  I'm staying tuned.]

Fortunately, I still have the file.
