This one goes in the take-your-journalism-standards-and-shove-them-up-your-hypocrite-ass department.

Larry Sinclair is a known liar and smear merchant.  He is scheduled to speak at the National Press club – yes, THAT National Press Club, the one that gave Jeremiah Wright his platform not too long ago.  There has been a real effort to convince the National Press Club to do the right thing and disinvite Sinclair.

Now we now why that effort will fail.

Jeff Gannon maintains a blog at the National Press Club.  Yes, THAT Jeff Gannon, who was a fake journalist, with a fake name, asking fake questions in the White House press room, who also happened to be a non-fake male hooker.  Here’s what the male-hooker-fake-journalist had to say about the Rev. Wright appearance.

The National Press Club should do more events of this nature, regardless of the outcome. While I bristled when serial liars Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame received a hero’s welcome at the Club, at least the working press had a chance to question them, however uncritically it did so. I strongly believe that every President of the United States should address the Club each year. It would probably provide a fairer forum than that the ideologically homogenous White House Press Corps.

The venerable National Press Club, now celebrating its centennial has clearly demonstrated why it endures. Even in a rapidly changing media universe, the basic journalism equation remains the same: asking questions and getting answers.

If the mission is to completely gut the reputation of the National Press Club, and make it nothing more than an arm of Fox News, then yes, I agree completely with the fake-journalist-non-fake-hooker guy.
