Dear WCPN Staff,

I am forwarding you an email I sent to WCPN Board of Trustees Chair Ed Campbell and WCPN President, Jerry Wareham, regarding the behavior of WCPN Director of Content Mark Smukler today.  It includes video of Mr. Smukler’s behavior today, which I posted at my blog www.bloggerinterrupted.com, and have forwarded to other Cleveland media. 

As a Clevelander, I am embarrassed and offended by the behavior of someone representing what should be a pillar of Cleveland Journalism.  I hope WCPN’s staff agrees.

Dear Messrs Wareham and Campbell,

I would like to report some extremely inappropriate behavior by Mark Smukler at WCPN this morning, which includes lying to me about a story in the Cleveland FreeTimes in which both Mr. Smukler and myself are mentioned, lying to me regarding information I have first hand knowledge of, asking me “why” he should answer a question truthfully, and proceeding to physically throw me into a stairwell and lock the door.  I was on WCPN’s premises legally and with full knowledge of security staff, acting with professionalism and courtesy at all times.  The attached video will show the incident in full. 

I would appreciate you taking this matter seriously.  This type of behavior on the part of a pillar of Cleveland’s journalism community is simply unacceptable.
