Me & Julie Stitzel, Tim Ryan’s ex-wife
Thu, Jun 19, 2008
A lot of people have been asking me lately, hey Russo…what’s the deal with the Tim Ryan stuff? Well, it’s hard to explain, but it’s all on the blog, and this episode occurred to me last night. It might help explain. Might not.
In March, 2005, I was in Nottingham working for the Labour Party. Once again, under this “Russo keeps his secret” strategy, I planned to never let anyone at the Labour Party know that I’d had this…um….thing happen to me since I last worked for them in 2001.
However, as I’ve blogged before, March 2005 wasn’t that simple. I’d just had Tim Ryan put pressure on The Fire Factory to remove me from the documentary film of Tim’s 2002 campaign, without my knowledge, and so on arrival in Britain, I was forced to spill the beans with Jake Shaw, the filmmaker, and was praying to God that he didn’t then spill the beans to some newspaper that a convicted sex felon was working for the Labour Party, which would then have put me on the front page of every tabloid in the country. So March, 2005, was a little more stressful than normal, largely thanks to Tim Ryan.
That’s when Tim Ryan’s wife decided to make it more stressful, by sending this email to MY BOSS, which he sent TO ME, asking if I knew this person.
My name is Julie Ryan and I am writing to you from the States. The purpose of this e-mail is to inquire of any positions presently or soon to be open with your office.
I will be in London March 28th - April 11th, and I would love the opportunity to stop by your office.
I have an extensive background in American politics and governmental relations in the US, particularly political campaigning. I am extremely interested in broadening my scope, and would love the opportunity to work with your team.
I have attached an updated CV for your review. I understand you are probably inundated at the moment with the elections just around the corner. Regardless of vacancies, I appreciate your time and wish you success on election day.
Sincerely,
Julie Ryan
Alrighty then. Tim Ryan’s wife wants me to get her a job with Labour.
As I started laughing to myself in my office in Nottingham, while visit programs from every single minister in British government were piling up as my responsibility, I just kinda sat there and looked out the window. Then a few more emails got thrown around, between me, Tim, and Julie, and pretty soon, I started pitching Julie Ryan to my boss for a job. Because that’s what I do. I help people who need my help.
And what happened to Julie?
She never got back to me.
Now listen closely. This is no way to live a life.
Repeat.
THIS IS NO WAY TO LIVE A LIFE.
This paradigm, wherein I keep a deep dark secret for Team Ryan, the keeping of which completely fucks up my life, while at the same time, Team Ryan gets jobs, lives, wives, husbands, children, ex-wives, ex-husbands, homes, cars, and political power - and then has the nerve to bend down into the gutter to ask me to help them get more when it suits them…..no.
I’m not sure how anyone other than myself would have handled that kind of pressure on their lives for 7 years, and I don’t know how to judge how I’ve done so, either. But I do not that it’s over. And that’s a real good feeling.
