VIDEO: Wear the pearls! It’s John McCain at the Cleveland Clinic!
Thu, May 1, 2008
I went to the town hall meeting at the Cleveland Clinic Intercontinental Hotel today, to ask John McCain who pays for his health care. The taxpayer, or his $100 million wife.
Turns out I never got to ask the question. But what I did get was an eyeful of just how Dickensian health care, Cleveland, and America, have become under the Republicans. And that probably answered my question about whether or not John McCain’s $100 million wife pays for his health care.
The Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the world, a jewel in Cleveland’s crown. Not many people know that it sits in just about the most dilapidated neighborhood in Cleveland. Its campus is surrounded by boarded up houses and poverty. The Cleveland Clinic pays ZERO taxes. A homeowner who lives across the street in a $40,000 home pays more tax in one second than the entire Cleveland Clinic has ever done.
I thought my big get would be McCain, but it really was the questioners. Before I figured out that I should film every questioner, a few slipped by, likethe one from a Cleveland Clinic doctor who wanted to know if McCain would support some kind of disincentive program via health insurance, to punish sick people for not keeping themselves healthy, by refusing care, or charging them more (I thought that already was the system!). I missed that one.
But I did get a woman who summers in Cleveland, winters in Arizona, whining about the illegals who ruin her time there and “suck up” health care dollars.
A guy who wanted McCain to re-time the lights on the stretch of Chester Avenue from the wealthiest suburb in Ohio to the Clinic so he could save gas money.
A women in black leather boots and one in PEARLS.
Bob Bennett saying he thinks Rev. Wright could be an issue in the fall.
And….everyone valet parked their car.
Watch and enjoy. You’re living in a Dickens novel.

This is brilliant, I loved it! Talk about Dickens! It is not a tale of two cities but a tale of two countries.
I say Bill Maher and Michael Moore have some serious contender! Hope Jon Stewart’s show sees it.

I don’t think this blogger should be interrupted, he’s doing a fine job pointing out the stark hypocrisy about how America’s health care system treats the rich and the poor, the healthy and the sick. John McCain, a real-life Manchurian Candidate, thinks what’s needed to make it better is the unleashing of free market harpies on us, so the big insurance companies can pick at our bones.
