The truth of conservative intellectual thought - they have neither

Media, Politics

Getting linked to by Instapundit is always a creepy feeling.  You want the traffic - his minions click on whatever he tells them to, like brainless link zombies.  The problem is that the minions are, in fact, brainless zombies.

This post got linked by the Instapundit himself, Glenn Reynolds, yesterday.  I emailed Reynolds with “do you plan to stay silent?” in the subject line, with the message “are you complicit in this too, Glenn”  Here’s how he linked to my post about the atmosphere of this campaign’s discourse.

BLAMING HILLARY IF OBAMA IS ASSASSINATED

Which of course is not what the post says.  Shocking.  So why would I email my post to Glenn Reynolds at all?

I’ve had a few exchanges with Reynolds, especially when I was writing Democracy Guy.  My Instapundit linkage was at the height of Bush’s democracy doctrine days, and Reynolds’ instructions were to be all democracy-ish, because, you know, that’s what the GOP wanted at the time.   So he would link when his neo-con wannabe instincts needed to see what a real election observer actually does.  Kinda like a chickenhawk reading military blogs about Iraq in order to get the REAL story.

Reynolds told me in email he actually voted for Bill Clinton twice.  I have no idea whether to believe this now, given that his record of blogging has veered almost entirely to the ditto-head variety.  But at the time, it gave me a reason to keep sending him my stuff.

So I honestly sent him my latest post, wondering how, as a law professor and a supporter of Bill Clinton, he felt about the discourse taking such a turn, and whether or not he planned to say something to stem the tide of what has become a discourse which now freely discusses the assassination of presidential candidates.  I guess I have my answer now.  He’s on board with making the discourse worse.

But the real story for me is the comments from his readers.  These people really do believe the myth from the “Excellence In Broadcasting Network” of Rush, or the “Intelligent” talk from the likes of Kevin James, he of the appeasement ignorance, proof of his “intelligence” in the video below.  They say things that have no context, no relevance, they repeat them, and then they declare victory, wallowing in their ignorance with the pride of a moron who doesn’t know better anyway.

I mean, I’d like to engage with a blatant GOP blogger, who says he voted for Bill Clinton twice, on an issue that any self-respecting law professor would have some intellectual thought on, but it appears that Glenn Reynolds has no intellect, or thought, to provide.  He’d rather parrot whatever Fox News tells him to, an example which his readers follow, largely because it’s the only way these people have ever learned how to engage in political discourse.  He leads, they follow.

Which I guess proves the point of my original post, doesn’t it?

I see a lot of frothing and ranting but very little response to the assertion that your post was unfair.

Anon–What are you, another of the Instapundit’s Flying Monkey Brigade? Mr. Interrupted has thoroughly engaged his critics, with such clear, well-reasoned, fact-based arguments as:

The fact that Mr. Interrupted actively solicited a link from a site whose readers he believes to be idiots tells us plenty about the kind of readership he thinks he’s best suited to. And it would be the first sensible conclusion he’s drawn that I’ve encountered.

yeah, there’s no one who voted for Clinton and then Bush.

Except, like, my dad. And my mom.

Also, I find it hilarious that there’s actually no response to Reynolds but rather an angry rant about why Glenn Reynolds is a poopy-head.

    /moderate democrat
    //go hillary

Glenn Reynolds has repeatedly said that his idea of democracy is a married gay couple raising an adopted child while simultaneously owning a lot of guns.

Yup. That’s the neo-con party line to a T. It’s too bad your more interested in ad hominem attacks than actually, you know, understanding where someone is coming from and their beliefs.

But I don’t want to interrupt your prayers for Obama’s safety so I’ll just stop pointing out your inability to read and absorb information.

Of course, I”LL TAKE ‘EM here at Blogger Interrupted, because I kind of have trouble getting my own readers, and my ego is in such dire straights that I’ll take brainless zombies to increase my hit count, even though it leaves me feeling icky and just a little more empty inside.

Now, some of you may think (I mean the NON-brainless zombie readers, and you two know who you are. I MOM!) that a man willing to link to one such as me who has obvious ideological differences with him shows some intellectual honesty and capacity for open rational thought…BUT YOU’RE WRONG!

Reynolds is a double-plus ungood stupid person who only parrots neo-con talking points, except when of course he is not in order to fool us, which only shows he will stoop at nothing to veil his unthinkingness with such crafty machinations.

Just like Bush, he is an evil-genious moron of the highest (lowest?) calibre!

Sandy, guess I’ve been schooled. Thank you.

    “poopy-head” is latin?
