Hillary Clinton race-baited for months, Barack called a reporter “sweetie”

Cynthia Ruccia’s appearance on Fox last night seems to have touched a bit of a nerve.

Commenters are claiming that Barack Obama’s supporters would have left the Democratic Party, too.  Well, here’s why.

Hillary Clinton said “as far as I know” when asked if she thought Barack Obama was Christian.

Hillary Clinton said “hard working, white people” would not vote for Barack Obama.

Bill Clinton called Barack Obama a “fairy tale”.

Mark Penn used the word “cocaine” multiple times on national TV referring to Barack Obama.

Bob Kerry used Barack Obama’s middle name “Hussein” for no reason other than to say it, while claiming Barack Obama went to a madrassa.

Three Hillary Clinton volunteers resigned for spreading the rumor that Barack Obama attended a madrassa.

Geraldine Ferraro claimed Barack Obama was “lucky” to be black.

It goes on and on.

The only thing even remotely close to sexism from the Obama campaign is Barack Obama referring to a reporter as “sweetie.”  That’s it.  Period.

Now, if Obama supporters had bolted the Democratic Party should Hillary have won the nomination, they’d have a real reason to leave.  That reason would be Hillary’s use of Strom Thurmond, Bull Connor, Richard Nixon, Trent Lott style race-baiting for months.  Their departure from the party would be justified, and necessary as a protest against the stunningly offensive campaign that Hillary Clinton has waged, a campaign so racially divisive it might as well have happened in 1954 in Montgomery, Alabama.  It would be their duty as Americans to refuse to support such a campaign.

And if Obama supporters did leave the Democratic Party, they’d have leaders of far greater stature than Cynthia Ruccia and some woman holding a handwritten sign on her lap with Gmail addresses on Fox News.

Get some perspective, ladies.  If I could hold my nose and vote for John Kerry in 2004, you can do the same in 2008.  And you’ll be making American history while you do it.

I agree with you, Tim. Obama’s supporters have much more casus belli with how Clinton’s campaign has been conducted than Clinton’s supporters have with how Obama’s campaign has been run.

Quite frankly, when push comes to shove, these people will not leave the Democratic party because as of this moment (and likely at the same moment in November) there is no better option for them than to vote for Barack Obama and continue supporting the causes that they have championed with the Democrats.

If this weren’t a first-past-the-post system and we had an IRV system, I’d say their rationale to leave would be stronger… but that’s looking at the matter from a mathematical perspective and math has no place in electoral politics.

I agree, Obama supporters would have a professional signmaker. Those women and their cohorts have no clue how amusing the rest of us think they are. They also have no clue that they are being gamed by the rightwing just to stir up trouble. I guess my point is they are just so clueless.

You Obamatons keep obeying the chant…never mind the man behind the curtain, just keep watching the screen….

It is not about the “numbers”…Super delegates CAN and HAVE overridden numbers before…check your history idiots! Oh, that’s right, you’re the 80’s kids…Reagan didn’t allow Civics classes…DOH!

It’s not about fear of “Black” men…spoken from a “typical white person”(Obama’s quote for those if you idiots who are walking contradictions about race).

It is about only 18 months in the Senate…Affirmative Action for the Presidency?

It is about his policies looking more like Republican diatribe than help for middle or lower income Americans.

It is about arrogance (going to declare victory?), the fact that he has yet to win a significant DEMOCRATIC STATE….

It is about the fact that McCAIN IS FAR AHEAD IN THE NOVEMBER NATIONAL RACE….YOU HAVE LOST ALREADY….

IT IS ABOUT THE FACT THAT …HILLARY IS AHEAD OF McCAIN IN THE NOVEMBER NATIONAL RACE…SHE IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S ONLY HOPE, OBAMAWAN!

I HOPE SHE DROPS THE FRICKEN DEMOCRATS AND GOES INDEPENDENT !!!! I AM READY AFTER 36 YEARS OF WORKING FOR THOSE SELF AGGRANDIZING MORONS !!!!!

I didn’t vote for Kerry in 2004, and I’m not required to vote Obama in 2008. I don’t have to vote for him just because his supporters think I should. And, I won’t!

  6. Eric Says:

who do you plan to vote for then katherine?
