Day 4 since Marc Dann ceased to be a Democrat and Progress Ohio has failed to use it’s email list to oust him
Tue, May 13, 2008
It’s been four days since the ODP stripped Marc Dann of the label “Democratic Party”, and four days since Progress Ohio has had the opportunity to use its massive email list to recall Marc Dann. When is Progress Ohio going to start standing up for Ohioans? Not holding my breath.

I’m not saying Brian isn’t biased. But I’m pretty sure he can’t – and probably shouldn’t – use the resources of Progress Ohio to push for the recall of a specific politician- regardless of his/her party affiliation.
Progress Ohio is a 501(c)(4) – as such they need to use their resources for the “promotion of social welfare”.
This translates to promoting legislation that fits with their progressive agenda- like pay day lending or sick leave.

interesting point, but then why the defense of Dann? surely if 501c4 status means they can’t go after a politician, then it must also mean they can’t defend him either.

joseph — interesting take, but not technically correct. progress ohio is a (c)(4), which allows them to engage in partisan political activity w/ their members. so long as the outreach is member to member, they can do this stuff.
