Corrections to Free Times story - Pulitzer continues to lie

My Story

First of all, James Renner did a great job on this story.  For those of you who may wonder why James Renner was the perfect guy to write it, see this video.  You’ll understand immediately.

Now, on to the corrections.  The photo of me in a tuxedo is not from the Labour 1997 campaign, it was taken at the Clinton/Gore 1997 innaugration.   The photo of me with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour is from the Labour 1997 campaign.  The photo of me in front of a seminar is not from Armenia, but Kyrgyzstan.

More importantly, there are some timeline issues.  The “anonymous posts threatening legal action” from the Sherrod Brown campaign all started AFTER the encounter with Sherrod and Connie Schultz at the ODP Christmas party, not BEFORE.  This is very important, because the threats came AFTER I reported on Sherrod and Connie’s conduct.  I went to shake Sherrod’s hand not in response to threats, but to say thank you for agreeing to an interview.

And it wasn’t me who said “How dare you attack my integrity,” it was Connie.  Connie began her rant by claiming I wrote that she couldn’t do her job at the PD and still be married to a US Senate candidate, and objected with “How dare you attack my integrity”.  When I informed her that she was mistaking me for some other blogger, and that I in fact DEFENDED her on my blog, she replied, “Oh.”  That’s when I blew up with the F-bombs.

Continued timeline confusion on this story allows the Pulitzer to continue lying about the incident.  No one wants this thing to go away more than me, but the reason it has become “the stuff of legend” is because Connie Schultz keeps lying about it.  That’s fine, but for someone who claims to be “anti-propaganda” and “anti-lies”, it seems she could clear up this situation with honesty.  That’s why the story keeps coming up.

I can understand why someone who made a complete fool of themselves in public would want to minimize this, but Connie.  C’mon, already.

Long time listener, first time caller. I used to read the Democracy Guy and learned of this blog via Pho. I was surprised to see your mug on the free times cover yesterday. It was a good article, but much of the content was actually from your posts. One question, I don’t mean to be cruel, but I wonder….a lot of what you are all about is ultimately centered on the polling booth…given your conviction, do you maintain voting rights?
    Good luck to you.

James Renner thinks you have flawless skin and look years younger than you really are. Clearly, this should also be cited as an error.
