When is the press going to ask Hillary about Monica?

Media, Politics

So now that every single mole hill in Barack Obama’s past has been made into a mountain, how about we address the 800 pound gorilla in Hillary’s past?

For example… I spoke a short while back with a women’s rights leader about Hillary, and asked her why she was upset with Hillary for not leaving Bill Clinton. I argued - believe it or not - that Hillary was right to get some return on her investment in this marriage in order to finally help her career too. The women’s leader responded: “Your self-respect is more important than a job.” That’s the kind of Monica question ABC could have asked Hillary, one that would have been relevant to her character. But they didn’t.

There’s a real arrogance about the Clinton campaign’s, and the MSM’s approach to the Lewinsky scandal.  First of all, Hillary herself is allowed to refer to it as “her baggage”, or evidence that the GOP has had the attack machine on her and she can take it.  But no one asks her about it.   No one is allowed to ask Chelsea about it, lest Chelsea get pissy.

“It’s none of your business….That is something that is personal to my family. I’m sure there are things that are personal to your family that you don’t think are anyone else’s business either.’’

Umm…not so fast, girlie.  Chelsea’s parents made it our business for 2 solid years.  This country’s entire governmental apparatus, legislative, executive, and judicial, was paralyzed by the Lewinsky scandal.  It cost this country dearly.  With all due respect to Chelsea’s hurt feelings, it damn well is our business.

In fact, if you measure by this presidential campaign, it’s as if this period in American history, and in Hillary’s past, never even existed.  There hasn’t been a single MSM question that I can recall, either in a debate, or a press conference, or anything else, where Hillary’s character has been probed on this matter, regarding the man she currently sleeps with, in nearly the same way that Obama’s has been over the people who live on his street and run his church.

Given that this little quirk in the Clinton’s marriage has had such lasting effects on our politics, I’d say it’s pretty relevant.  Far more relevant than Jeremiah Wright, or flag pins, or anything else.

This is exactly what I have been wondering too. In the last debate, as you know, I am a bit naive, I felt that the pounding on Obama may have been initiated to “clear the air.”

I even imagined a scenario whereby Gibson and Staphanopoulos met quietly in a Philadelphia restroom prior to the debate. As Chuck and George went about their business there was a man in the restroom stall listening…

Why did that idea come into my mind? Because I could not understand why for 40 minutes two journalists who appeared very uplifted whenever they spoke about Obama’s campaign and emergence as a front runner acted so single minded in their attack. It had to be a ploy.

Now to get back to your post and Hillary’s “800 pounds Gorilla”, does the Democratic party expect that the question will not be asked by the Republicans if by some devious means Hillary was selected as the candidate?
