The rapid but-not-fast-enough implosion of Marc Dann
Wed, Apr 30, 2008
So now Marc Dann is looking for work on LinkedIn, and as anyone can tell you, LinkedIn is the last refuge of the truly desperate. As I’ve reported here, here, and here, it is clear that Dann is looking for somewhere to land. I have no idea if my sources are reliable, I just put up what I hear, and I don’t reveal the source. But when Dann himself is letting it be known on LinkedIn that he’s looking for work, well, that’s good enough for me.
We now have multiple reports all over Ohio media that Marc Dann and his staff have created a culture of vulgarity in their office, have sexually harrassed female employees, have asked them for blow jobs, have destroyed human resources documents, have driven state cars drunk, have crashed them, including hit-skip drive-bys, have covered up the damage, have had sex with their employees, and party as if they work for Girls Gone Wild instead of the taxpayer.
And you say, gee Tim, you’re a blogger, where are the links? THERE ARE TOO MANY. I don’t work that hard. They’re out there, and you can Google all night for the fun. Don’t let me stop you.
It now appears that Chris Redfern, Ted Strickland, and Lee Fisher require that Marc Dann be photographed vomiting into Jessica Utovich’s vagina while Leo Jennings fucks her in the ass with Anthony Gutierrez’ empty beer bottle, before they ask for him to resign. Such a high standard Dann has set. It is the standard he has lived by for years.
Whatever job search Dann has launched, if he’s now resorting to LinkedIn, that means any employer seeing Dann’s resume has done more background on Dann than Chris Redfern afforded the voters of Ohio before Redfern imposed him on us. Which is to say, they are lifting a finger.
Marc Dann is not just an embarrassment to Ohio, he is a vile disgusting puke of a human being. The stories about Dann have been long known, and some are so vile, and so horrible, that not even I will print them, and I have zero scruples. Suffice to say that if some of the folks who Dann has harmed were around to talk about it, Dann wouldn’t even be a lawyer, let alone attorney general of the state of Ohio (and Dann knows god damn well what I’m talking about). I’m sure the targets of his job hunt are unearthing these things, with one turn of the spade, things that Chris Redfern saw fit to ignore, likely in full knowledge.
Unfortunately, Chris Redfern, Ted Strickland, and Lee Fisher, any one of whom could push Dann out at their convenience, seem to be unwilling to do so. I am completely at a loss on this. I happen to believe that Barack Obama will be our party’s nominee, and will need Ohio. And if Marc Dann is still there as a campaign issue for the GOP in the fall, the weight on the ticket in Ohio will make Rev. Wright look like a flea.
Every single political leader in the Ohio Democratic Party has in their interest Marc Dann’s disappearance, and they have all known it would happen. They expected it from the moment he won the 2006 primary. They have known Dann would IMplode rapidly in the best case, and EXplode slowly in the worst. We are watching the latter.
And like our presidential primary, the cowards we have as “leaders” in our party haven’t got the guts, nor the will, nor the means, to make it stop. It will surely get worse the longer Marc Dann sticks around.
So I think Messrs. Redfern, Strickland, and Fisher should write a recommendation for Dann on LinkedIn. If you’re not going to do the right thing, at least help some equally negligent future employer of Marc Dann to do the wrong one. Then he’ll be their problem instead of yours.

I’m no Marc Dann fan (far from it), but the LInkedIn stuff seems a stretch. Those look like the default settings. You could also read “job inquiries” to mean those wanting to work FOR him. Wonder how many of those he gets?
It’s a real shame that some of the good work Dann has done will be overshadowed by this. It was inevitable though alright.

The problem ODP, Redfern, Strickland….have is that Dann stepping down could actually be MORE detrimental to the national party and possible have effects in the November election.
You know far better than I do that politicians like to play the wait and see game….wait, maybe Dann can throw Gutierrez, Jennings AND Utovich under the bus, and himself come out of this only smelling as bad as Frebreeze sprayed dogshit.
At this point, Dann stepping down would hurt more than help…the only way he will step down is if there are WORSE stories sitting in editors in-boxes.
It will take a nuclear bomb to extract Dann’s ass and ego from the AG’s throne. A nuclear bomb the size of that photo you mentioned.
(At this point, Dann won’t resign unless they find kiddy porn as his desktop screensaver)
I used to have a boss, that joked, whenever the President of the company calls you into his office, always hit the “down” button on the elevator before you go in. Its a long wait for the elevator if you get fired. (and and even longer ride down)
Dann is going to do everything he can to stay in office (his ego will DEMAND it) because it is a long drive (sitting on your tail) back home to Youngstown. Plus kids need orthodontics and tuition. (You can soak the kids thumb in iodine but that won’t knock a penny off of the University)
Dann can rationalize all kinds of misdeeds as long as he isn’t “fingered” (like Stankoski’s fly) of having committed any crimes.
I’d like Dann to resign at his press conference tomorrow, but I am afraid he is just going to fire, Gutierrez and Jennings and crawl into a foxhole and wait for the bombing to cease.
Dann needs a serious PR firm with Crisis Management experience, and at this point he should be paying for it out of his own pocket (if he hopes to survive one more bad news cycle)
