Stephanopolous loses his credibility in about 20 seconds
My general take on the debate tonight is that Hillary just imploded. I’ve never seen her look worse. She talked at the ceiling, she wallowed in the crap, and when asked by a voter about the Bosnia sniper fire thing, she became visibly angry.
However.
The big story for me isn’t Barack, or Hillary, or anything they said at all.
I really hoped that George Stephonoplous would not have done what he did tonight. I had a ton of respect for him from the first campaign I ever got paid for, the one he made his name on, the 1992 Clinton campaign. I love his work on ABC’s This Week.
So when I read on Kos today that he was literally taking notes from Sean Hannity of Fox, on the air LIVE, in order to ask a question about William Ayers, who did some stupid shit 40 years ago when Barack Obama was 8 years old, I could not believe that Stephonopolous would ever, EVER, go there. Let alone, once again, LIVE ON THE AIR IN WHAT MAY BE THE MOST WATCHED DEBATE YET.
He went there. George pretty much read word for word what Sean Hannity asked him to read.
William Ayers is a man who was head of the Weather Underground, a radical group in the 60s and 70s, set bombs at the Capitol, set bombs at the Pentagon, and was quoted in the New York Times oddly enough, ironically on September 11 before obviously the events of that day, saying that he didn’t go far enough, and he doesn’t regret it at all, and he wished he could have done more. Your campaign has described your relationship with William Ayers as “friendly.” How could a man running for the presidency of the United States possibly have anything to do with, or have anything but disdain for a man who did what he has done to this country?
Stephanopoulos responsed to the last query: “It’s a damn good question.”
I’ve been trying to get the video, but I’m sure the rest of the blogosphere is on it too.
My take on it is that I really didn’t think he’d do it. But George did. And that makes me sick.

Yup. He did. When Naugle cheers in the live blog that tells you all you need to know. Sick.
