My Story, Politics

I’ve been very interested to get the reaction to my new blog from many quarters.  Not many people are blogging about it, but that’s fine.  This stuff can be pretty intimidating to comment on.  Understood.

But a lot of people have emailed me, almost all with support.  Some have been outright rude, mean, and ignorant.  And those, I intend to print on a case by case basis, here at my blog, without asking for permission.  It isn’t my policy to print emails without getting permission first, but if someone writes something to me that is offensive, I’m going to assume they don’t want it to see the light of day.  Well…homey don’t play that.

Susan Meara from BlueOhioan, one of the few openly pro-Hillary blogs in Ohio,  sent me this today.

Hi Tim–

It’s really gutsy of you to write about your personal stuff. I didn’t know.  I’m sorry for what you’ve been through. Obviously we have some sharp differences politically right now, and your rage at anyone perceived as standing in the way of your goals seemed over the top and a real pain in the ass. But I think I get it now. And I have no desire to engage you politically anymore because it’s not personal with me. I wish you well, truly.

Susan (BlueOhioan)

Being talented is tough.  I’m very used to people confusing the fact that I write better than they do, or just about anyone else, with “rage”.

They confuse my ability to communicate precisely what I think with “rage”.

They confuse my ability to run rings around them while pointing out their bullshit with “rage”.

They confuse my ability to see right through them, point out that their underwear is showing, and while doing so bust into a funny dance of glee, with “rage”.

Yes, I have plenty to be angry about, for sure, and yes, it sometimes comes through.  But that’s not “rage”, it’s talent.  And if my talent is a pain in your ass, Susan, well, good!

And no, you don’t “get it now.”  Doubt you ever will.  Someone who continues to mock the supporters of Barack Obama as gleefully as you do simply will never get “it”, or anything, either “now”, or ever.

And what?  The fuck?  Is this?

And I have no desire to engage you politically anymore because it’s not personal with me. I wish you well, truly.

Sweetheart, I don’t even know who you are.  I had to Google your name.  I did know a Susan was a Hillary shill at BlueOhioan, but that’s it.  So whatever “it” is, “it’s not personal” with me either, because I have no idea who you are. Knowing who someone is tends to be a prerequisite for things to get personal.  Seems to me the only thing that gets personal is your email.

As for your lost desire to “engage” me “politically anymore”…ummm….remind me when you did that before please?  If you hadn’t sent me this email, I never would have bothered to engage you, either.  So please feel free to stop all that engaging that we never actually engaged in.

You see, a lot of people out there have used my past mistakes to do precisely what Susan is doing here.  They like to point out how much “rage” I have, or tell me how “personal” I get, to pretend that the truth about me doesn’t make them sick to their stomach.  They use my past mistakes to justify their bad behavior toward another human being.  See?  Russo’s got issues, he deserves it!

And that’s kinda why I started this blog - to point out this reality, and for me to…ahem….”personally” overcome it, from whatever direction it originates, including from emails like this one.

  1. Joseph Says:

Please, Tim. Enough with the rage already, man.

Keep it up and I’ll have no choice but to disengage from you politically.

  2. Susan Says:

Okay, Tim. My email was offered as an olive branch. Oh well.

  3. Tim Russo Says:

olive branch? that’s a joke, right? i never knew we were at war.

  4. Schmennis Says:

    Tim,

I have no choice but to disengage from purchasing Girl Scout cookies from your nieces.

I have never purchased GS cookies from them, so I hope this suffices as an Olive Branch between us.

    “Rage” is a strong word….

I am not sure that RAGE can be used to describe a blogger, unless you are keystroking with the dismembered appendages of your victims.

Maybe its just poor English, and what she meant to state was, “I no long DESIRE to engage with you politically.(Implying that she had desire before she read about all your “stuff”)

    I haven’t read the update yet….

If you publish peoples negative emails, won’t that deter them from writing you positive emails?
